And more of what we've been up to…

Days at Nana and Papoo’s are fun-filled and busy.  Today we spent the morning taking a beautiful walk through the woods behind the house in search of animals though Jaia was adamant that we not find any ‘tigers, wolves, bears or skunks’ because ‘they are scary’.  Thankfully the biggest that crossed our paths were a couple of squirrels racing around.

The afternoon was spent having tea parties and baking brownies with Nana.  In fact, the delicious smell of brownies is wafting in my direction as I type, making it hard to concentrate.  I love brownies.  And they taste even better when Jaia had a hand in making them.

Here are some more recent photos…

See you tomorrow, Daddy!

Dan - I wish I was there to see the princess dance in photo #2!

And I’ll never believe you again that she doesn’t play along for photo shoots – those pink hat / sweater ones are priceless.

I’ll be at the airport tomorrow with smooches!

Vinnie - And just when you think she can’t get any cuter

For Daddy…

We are in Virginia.  Well, Jaia and I are, while Dan stays home and rips our kitchen apart.  As you can see from the previous posts, he is doing one hell of a good job.  I’m starting to get so excited to see how it is coming together (in person).

What we’ve been up to – and notice there is far less blood, demolition and manual labour.

Dan - No picture of Shannen? Boo.

The rest? Yay!

Can’t wait to see my girls at the airport pickup!

Kitchen Reno #4 – Plumbing and Layout

This morning’s priority was sealing off the old sink plumbing so I could turn the water main back on.  My luck being what it is, the laundry sink decided to break in the process, forcing an extra trip to Canadian Tire for a replacement faucet valve.  Step 1 of plumbing complete.  Step 2 (running waste pipe and cold/hot supply to the new sink location) is more difficult, and I need to think about it more before trying it 😛

After that, I finally got to lay out the first section of tile!  Looks amazing.  I don’t really like the little white things though.  I think I’ll remove them.  Garold is coming over this afternoon to start the mortaring!

Ellen Martin - Dan,
You are a brave soul to take on such a big project! I commend you.

shannen - And I’m a lucky wife!!!

Kitchen Reno #3 – Preparation

Today was spent completing demolition (removing remaining cupboards, capping off existing plumbing, removing all 1/4″ plywood sub-floor), shopping at Home Depot (3 separate trips!) and installing new sub-floor.

Today’s helpers include Gary.  He arrived in time to help with some plumbing and sealing sub-floor joints.

Tiles begin tomorrow!

PS – yes, Humph tracked mortar all over the house.
