Freeze!

My work travel has been fairly light since Jaia’s arrival, which has been great.  It’s tough leaving the girls – both because I miss them terribly, but also because it’s tough on Mamma to not have a break from the Bean for that long.

But, it’s part of the job, and it was inevitable that I leave tomorrow for 10 days, at a time when things are changing fast, if the last few posts are any indication!  What major milestone will I miss?  Against all odds, will “mamma” be her first word if I’m not around to lobby for “dada”?  Will she get her first job?

All of this had me worried, until I brought my concerns to Jaia.  First, she pointed out that mamma will have help while I’m gone – a visit by “The Amazing Nanna” (she even wears a cape!).  She has also assured me that development in all major skill areas comes to a shuddering halt as soon as I get into that taxi, to resume upon my return.  And I know I can trust her.  She’s a Fullerton.

Shannen - 10 days? She could be speaking full sentences by then…

First steps…

The long awaited day has arrived.  Jaia took her first independent steps this afternoon.  Well, she took her first ones this morning, but we were in shock and convinced ourselves that it didn’t really happen.  Not yet.  It couldn’t be.

But then it happened again.  And then we spent a good part of the afternoon trying to get her to do it again, but she wasn’t interested.  There were other, more important things to take care of, like shaking the keys and chewing on the remote.

All in good time…all in good time.

Lizzie Jean - SO EXCITING!!!! I can’t believe she’s taking her first steps…I can’t believe she’s almost 1!!! To think it was almost this time a year ago I was rubbing Shannen’s belly trying to coax little Jaia to arrive while Uncle Mark and I were visiting!!!

Kris - No way! That’s amazing. Now her four-legged siblings REALLY need to watch their tails!

Sonja - Won’t be long now before she’s running marathons!!

Day 335 – Hello Month 12…

And the official start to the Christmas season in the Fullerton household.

We pulled out the decorations last night, in preparation for today, when we plan on Christma-fying the house.  Jaia immediately found the tupperware bins that hold the tree ornaments and went to town emptying absolutely everything, her new favourite activity.

Not surprisingly, she was quite taken with the bright, shiny, red (plastic) ball.  Perhaps it looked a little too much like a certain fruit she knows and loves….

Apple, anyone?

Though I have to admit, she did not limit herself to look-a-like fruit…

Lizzie Jean - It’s okay Jaia, I still have to stop Uncle Mark from trying to eat our Christmas decorations.
