Merry Christmas!! (Day 358)

Jaia’s first Christmas started early (5:00am), but was perfectly…perfect.  All signs of sickness melted away when she saw the lit Christmas tree and a mountain of presents underneath.

At almost one, she is old enough ‘unwrap’ (rip through) all the gifts (including mine and her dad’s) and to know that this was not just an average day.  She was awestruck by it all. Santa, and all of her grandparents, aunts and uncles, spoiled her rotten.  She’s a very lucky duck.

Seeing the loot from Santa for the first time…

I hope the season was merry and bright for all of you as well.  Merry Christmas.

Kris - Kurt and I are very jealous of the Starbucks mug…we always meant to buy a set of those to remember the big SB with when we left and then ran out of time.

Adorable photos…especially the one of you and her. So cute. Congrats on the new lens as well!

A full house.

My intentions while on vacation were to take tons of pictures, keep up with the holiday editions of the photo of the day and to update the blog. Unfortunately, 3 hours into our 10 hour drive to Virginia, Jaia threw up. And then again half an hour later. I immediately thought she was reacting to something she had eaten but it turns out that it was the stomach flu. An extremely contagious stomach flu.

So far it has hit 3 Fullertons and 2 Kings. Jaia, Dan and I were first. Then my mom and as of this morning, my sister is the latest victim. It’s been horrible. I will spare you the gory details.

With how fast this virus attacks, we’ve had to turn away visitors and cancel our annual Christmas dinner with my parents best friends rather than infect anyone else. And since Liz only got sick this morning, we are considering pushing Christmas Eve and Christmas morning back a day. It wouldn’t really be an issue except that it’s not exactly how we were all intending to spend Jaia’s first Christmas – with someone constantly running for the bathroom.

The good news is that those of us who were first sick are starting to feel better. Jaia is getting her appetite back and Dan even cracked a beer this evening.  Thankfully, after a few very grim days, things are finally looking up.

rachel Edwards - Oh no! That’s terrible. I hope you got Christmas eventually, and that you’re all feeling better. Looking forward to photos of Jaia dressed as a Christmas pudding or something similar – and thanks for your comment, too, by the way. Bag will be packed tomorrow and am hoping for some of your 2.5 weeks early luck! Happy Christmas and New year to you all! x rachel

Auntie Kris - Booo! Nice timing, stomach virus. Hope you guys are all barf-free now and managed to salvage a fantastic Christmas anyways! Like Rachel, I’m also looking forward to Christmas Jaia photos (and some Shan and Dan as well). 🙂

Miss you guys! Feel better!
