Remember me?

I used to write here every once in a while, posting my latest bizarre find from the world wide web, reporting on my latest travel adventure, or just letting some stream-of-consciousness drivel loose on the world. I’ve been quiet recently.  And I hope that you don’t think that it’s because of you, dear reader.  It’s not you.  It’s me.

Recording thoughts for posterity isn’t the only hobby that’s fallen off the priority list.  It joins doing fun things with my wife, running, reading, walking the dog, video games, electronics tinkering, and home improvements at the bottom of the dust bin of my mind.

In a period I will call AJ, I used to maintain a fairly healthy life balance.  In the last year (let’s call that PJ), that’s all fallen apart.  Earthquake #1 was an adorable little creature named Jaia, who is terribly fun but an incredibly time-consuming being to keep alive and stimulated.  Earthquake #2 was a job change that was welcome, needed and refreshing, but fills the vast majority of my waking hours.

I’m slowly adjusting.  Humph got a walk last night in the freshly fallen snow.  I’ve started reading for pleasure again.   We’re trying to commit to one night a week where instead of eating at 4:30pm with Jaia, we wait until she goes to bed to prepare dinner, keep the TV off and reconnect.

But forgetful.ca hasn’t crept back out of the bucket.  You’ll be the first to know.

Shannen - Ah yes, AJ. When I had boundless energy and free time to spare…Those were the days. Fun, but FAR less cute and nowhere near as fulfilling. Plus, I’m skinnier now and work way less hard at it. Now that’s rewarding. I wouldn’t trade these days in for anything.

I’m glad Forgetful Dan is back. It’s nice to see a post written by someone other than me.

rachel Edwards - I still can’t believe this could be us next year. Minus the snow. And with the addition of boy bits. But still, I can’t believe how much she’s grown. She’s really beautiful. :o)

Kris - OMG…it’s so not surprising that you managed to find the cutest coat/hat/boots set ever. She’s so stylin’.

Shannen - They had the mittens too, but I thought that was going overboard. But, apparently, 3 out of 4 is completely acceptable. 😉

Heatherness - This is lovely! So so sooooo cute.

November 26, 2007 - 2:27 pm

Lizzie Jean - So I guess it goes without saying that she liked the snow.

Day 324 – Oh yes we did.

We made an impromptu visit to Virginia this weekend for some much needed family time, but also to take advantage of the pre-Christmas shopping.  At the mall (for the 3rd day in a row), we decided that we could no longer resist…

And she did amazing!  She looked at Santa, looked at me, looked at Santa, looked at me, the girl snapped this picture – and then she started screaming.  So it wasn’t a long visit with the big guy, but it was long enough to have an awesome keepsake for her first Christmas.

Only 34 more sleeps!

Auntie Jen - This made my day! So cute.

November 20, 2007 - 12:30 pm

Dan - I missed out on her first visit to Santa 🙁 When everyone arrived home, I asked her what she told him she wanted for Christmas.

She refused to tell me.

November 21, 2007 - 8:09 am

Kris - She looks a little wary of Santa Claus, but I have to say – that’s one of the best Santas that I’ve ever seen!

November 21, 2007 - 6:40 pm

Mel - Nice picture! What a great looking Santa, I’ve seen some that look pretty rough.

Day 320 – Just because it’s Friday…

This isn’t a brand new photo, but it is my favourite.

Alicia - So adorable!! Is it wrong for me to say I love naked babies?

November 17, 2007 - 9:08 am

Kris - My fave too. This one came to Bermuda with me!

rachel Edwards - That is AWESOME.

And since we’re vaguely on the topic, can I ask your opinion on baby baths? We’ve been given one but it’s huge and takes up loads of space, and it’s a hand me down so I don’t mind getting rid of it. We were looking at the bucket tub things, but also a normal baby bath that folds in half for storing purposes and is good from newborn to toddler. Are they worth getting? Any thoughts? They run at about $45 here.
