I could explain, but a picture is worth a thousand words.

With everything that I’ve been doing to cut down and simplify life, I’ve somehow ended up to be busier than ever. So then w But I am SO excited about it. So excited, in fact, that I can barely contain myself. I’m going to keep the details under wraps for now – but couldn’t resist sharing a little sneak peek. Plus this little sneak peek gives me my first – and definitely not my last – opportunity to brag about my little cousin Lindsay who designed this for me. I barely told her what I wanted (mostly because I didn’t have a clue myself) and she came up with this little guy. And he’s perfect. I’ve named him Clive. Don’t you think he looks like a Clive? Lindsay is one of the most talented illustrators and designers I have ever known. And I don’t just say that because we are related (though I’d like to think the Murphy blood has something to do with it). I say that because she deserves it. I’ve always thought so. If you don’t believe me, go to her website and see for yourself. And then when you or someone you know needs some design work done, hire her. You will not be disapointed.

Aw, Shan, you’re way too nice! I loved working on this with you! It was so much fun, I can’t wait to see what comes out of your project. Thanks for asking me to be a part of it! ps. it’s definitely Murphy blood – cause I sure didn’t get any drawing talent from dad! 🙂

I betcha it’s a children’s book and I betcha i’ll buy one (only if it’s autographed). Am I right?

Ooh! No! But that’s a good idea!

OMG…I LOVE the idea of a children’s book starring Clive! Perhaps a spin-off of the big project?? Anyways, I’m excited too. By the way, Lindsay’s journals/sketchbooks on her website are amazing. So inspiring!

I agree. Lin is the most talented person I know. And i’m not just saying that because she’s my sister, or because she’s painting a mural on my wall. her creativity astonishes me every single day. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 30 days from today my life changes. For the MUCH better. After a fairly agonizing fall and winter, Dan and I made a huge decision – or what felt like a huge decision to us – to make some changes in our family life. Like so many other working mamas, I feel like I am missing out on my child’s life. The best hours of Jaia’s day happen while I am away and sitting at a desk. I see her every evening for a mere 3 hours before she goes to bed. Those three hours are often busy (dinner making), rushed (errand running), tired (long day of working) and therefore also often playless. We try our best to make up for long busy weeks by packing in fun on the weekends, but much too often they end up exactly like our weekdays – just plain busy. So after a lot of talking, figuring out, deciding and coming to grips – we finally have a solution we can live with – and thankfully one my employer suggested and endorses. As of next month, I will be working from home, part-time.  A mere 30 days from today, Jaia will no longer go to daycare and will be home with me on a full time basis. A few people in our lives kept telling us that our kids are only young once – and we finally started listening. Jaia is growing up and turning into a little lady, and rather than it happening before my eyes, I’m hearing about it from our daycare provider. I’m missing out and it was making me sad enough to do something to fix the situation. So there it is. News that I am happy to report. News of a decision I couldn’t be more proud of. News that is making me all giggly like a school girl. And it’s only 30 days away (and only 23 working days). Yes, I’m excited. Beyond excited. I’m already counting the sleeps….

Congratulations Fullertons! It takes a lot of courage to make a big, life changing decision like this – you should be proud of yourself. I’m really happy for you guys. 🙂

Thanks, Guys. I’m really excited about trading in the commute for cuddles. 29 sleeps now, but who’s counting.

I’ve already told you this, but this is excellent news. Kinda makes me want to move back and come hang out! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I’ve been waiting for you for months! Seriously. The first sign of warmer temperatures for this kid is not the local opening of Dairy Queen (which I think actually stays open all year now – my how times have changed!) or the buds on the trees. For me, it’s the return of my very much loved freckles. Freckles mean my skin finally saw the sun. And that means it’s warm enough for t-shirts and skirts. And that means instead of hiding inside to keep warm, we are all spending as much time as possible outside. And that’s exactly what we’ve done so far this weekend. I had a hellish week at work and the best medicine for that is time with Dan and my bean…and sunshine. We played outside all Saturday – in between pulling every muscle possible while gardening – and took amazing loooooooong walks. In fact, that’s where we’re off to now. Humph needs a good off-leash run, Jaia is looking forward to her scavenger hunt and my hunt will include seeking out more of those pretty little freckles. And what a day for it! Enjoy your Sunday!

That makes two of us that love those freckles! And wonderful weekends like the one just passed. My dirty fingernails are a small price to pay for the work we got done in the yard. It’s coming along … ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Shannen - Ha! Two cuties. But I’m glad both of your moustaches were removed shortly after the picture was taken.
