Crafty McCrafterson

A stroll through Staples the other day gave me a fantastic idea.  I happened upon magnet paper.  Did you know magnet paper existed?  Not many people do.  I first used it when Dan and I were planning our wedding 6 (!) years ago.  I made ‘save the date’ type magnets and sent them out to all who might come.  Some of you still have those magnets on your fridges.  I’ve seen them and I think it’s pretty cute.

Anyway, back to a few weeks ago.  I saw the paper again and thought it would be cute to make monster magnets for the loot bags at Wes’ birthday party.  Brilliant.  Cute, easy and original.  I loved them.  (An enormous birthday post is in the works, by the way!)

But now I had a few extra sheets of paper and no more magnets to make.  Or…

I had an idea.  Why not print photos of the kids on the paper?  That way I’d have new photos for the fridge and I wouldn’t need magnets to hold them up.  And maybe, just maybe, I could cut down on the immense amount of clutter that always finds it’s way onto the fridge.  Easy peasy.  And awesome.

Serious magnet love.

We had an amazing weekend.  I want to tell you all about it, but I am BEAT.  So tired.  No storytelling for this gal tonight.

No, tonight I will just post this:

Cool as a cucumber.

Lately I’ve been more forgetful than usual.  The kids and I spend an awful lot of time retracing steps or going back home before we get to where we are going because I forgot something.  It’s beyond ridiculous.

The funny thing is that I somehow thought the kids wouldn’t notice.  Even though they are always with me when I’m retracing steps and backtracking.  But it turns out that my little sprite is very observant.

So the other day we were out and I put my hat and phone down on a shelf while I put Wes’ coat on.  And then I walked away.  We got back to the car and were all buckled in when I realized that I hadn’t picked up my things from the shelf.  I panicked.  Got the kids back out of the car at warp speed, ran back and found my hat and phone right where I left them.

As we walked back to the car, Jaia says, “Mama, you lose things a lot, don’t you?”  I responded that yes, I did indeed lose things often.  I’m very forgetful.

She stops, thinks for a a minute and then says, “You are a loser.”  Initially shocked, but then after I took in the super cute innocence of her comment, I said, “You can say that again!”

So she replies, “You are a loser.
