Lately I’ve been more forgetful than usual. The kids and I spend an awful lot of time retracing steps or going back home before we get to where we are going because I forgot something. It’s beyond ridiculous.
The funny thing is that I somehow thought the kids wouldn’t notice. Even though they are always with me when I’m retracing steps and backtracking. But it turns out that my little sprite is very observant.
So the other day we were out and I put my hat and phone down on a shelf while I put Wes’ coat on. And then I walked away. We got back to the car and were all buckled in when I realized that I hadn’t picked up my things from the shelf. I panicked. Got the kids back out of the car at warp speed, ran back and found my hat and phone right where I left them.
As we walked back to the car, Jaia says, “Mama, you lose things a lot, don’t you?” I responded that yes, I did indeed lose things often. I’m very forgetful.
She stops, thinks for a a minute and then says, “You are a loser.” Initially shocked, but then after I took in the super cute innocence of her comment, I said, “You can say that again!”
So she replies, “You are a loser.
