That hair.  That gorgeous, thick, blond hair.  It’s growing out of control.  He has wings and it falls into his eyes, but I just can’t cut it.  Dan keeps hinting and has even tried to make an appointment, but I’m just not ready yet.  I don’t want to be ready yet.

I promise to not it let get ‘too’ out of control, but for now, his shaggy baby mop stays.

Auntie Lizzie - Dont cut it!!! It’s like his trademark 🙂

Sunday.

This Sunday has brought the Fullertons:

-a renewed desire to get some work done on our kitchen.  Do I even need to mention the linoleum that we found under the cabinet?

– more rain. Our grass is green again!
– time to de-clutter.  5 FULL garbage bags ready to go already.  No room is safe.  We are hoarders no more.
– lunch on the porch. In the rain. Pants optional.

Dan - We’ve been frustrated with the plateau of renos we were heading towards, without being able to proceed with the cabinets right now. Some rare, uninterrupted time together Saturday while the kids were napping in the back of the car brought some new options to light, and renos have been re-invigorated! Same end point, just able to execute on more of it sooner. Decreased frustration with incomplete kitchen by 13%.

Two amigos

This week, with big sister away all day, Wesley and I have been like the two amigos.

So far, it’s been fun.  But there’s obviously something missing.  Jaia and Wes can spend a good part of their day fighting (some days it’s all day), but they mostly enjoy each other’s company.  They play well and they rely on each other for a lot.  This week, more than a few times, Wes has looked up at me and asked where Jaia was.  I feel it, too, Little Man.  Us three, together, just feels right.

September brings with it a new reality.  When the glass is half full, I think about this amazing opportunity I have to get to know Wesley, one on one, like I did with his sister before he was born.  Up until now, they’ve been a unit.  A twosome.  And with the new school year, I get two individuals.  I look forward to getting to know both of them all over again and anew.

More glass full?  Whole days away from each other has to cut down on the fighting, doesn’t it?  Sold!

Things, on a chilly August day.

That’s right, I said chilly.  Here we are after the hottest and driest summer on record – or that I remember, anyway.  Last night at Jaia’s soccer game I had to pull out the fleece to keep the goosebumps in check.  NOt the most odd thing to ever happen, but SO out of the blue.  I’m not complaining though.  Fall is coming.  🙂

Here are some things:

  • Some hooligans broke into our cars last night.  Thankfully (for us) we store mountains of crap in our glove boxes with nothing of value.  I wish I could have seen their faces when they realized that they had not, in fact, hit the jackpot.  Jerks.  I wish they’d at least clean up their mess.
  • Yes, both our cars were unlocked.  My dad will be shaking his head at me when he finds out.
  • The shizz went down at Jaia’s soccer game last night.  Two parents (one of the biggest kid, one of the smallest) had a shouting match when big kid trampled small kid.  I had the fortunate opportunity to be sitting in between the two and have possibly never been more uncomfortable in my life.
  • Dan would be miffed at me for doing this so publicly, so I thought I would try to slip it in here and make it less conspicuous, but I wanted to congratulate my husband on his most awesome promotion.  So well deserved and so much to be proud of.  We certainly are!  Way to go, Mr. Fullerton!
  • The Olympics are soon over.  What will I do with my time?
  •  This week Jaia has been at an all day camp.  On the first day, after I dropped her off, I cried.  Not weepy or uncontrollable.  But there were tears.  It was my first mini of what we will experience in the fall when we drop her off at school for her first day of grade 1.  **gulp**
  • Our cherry tomatoes are ready.  This is awesome.
  • The library is an awesome way to spend part of your day.  Take your kids there.  Borrow books.  Read them.

And that is all.  Have any things you want to share today?

Cheer Squad

It’s no secret.  I love the Olympics.  I watch every game, contest and race that I can. I don’t stop living, but while in the house, the TV is on and I have one eye and ear on the action.

The kids have gotten into the excitement and can be heard chanting Go, Canada, Go! from all corners of the house.  Even breakfast isn’t off limits.

I wonder if these athletes know just how much their talent, will, determination and strength are influencing the next generation.  It’s certainly happening here at our house.

Go, Canada, Go!!!
