Day 192 – Traditions

This year there won’t be lights strung outside the house or a sparkling Christmas tree lit up in the corner of the family room.  Stockings won’t be hung by the chimney with care and the wreath won’t be hung on the front door.  In fact, many of the usual Christmas decorations that I cherish will remain in their boxes.

In 9 days we get the keys to our new house and a few weeks after, late into December we are moving.  Sadly, decorating for Christmas this year is taking a back seat to the unpacking we’ll need to do as we settle into our new place.

But there are a few precious things that I can’t, and won’t, give up.

Lesson learned: Never decorate your gingerbread house under the bright lights of the kitchen.  Good to know.

Day 190 – Hoarse

I’ve been absent and without words over the past week or so.  I just haven’t had it in me to sit and compose.  I’m tired, still tired, and to add some flavour to the mix, both kids are sick.

Jaia has had a terrible cold for over a week now.  Her cough is loud and hard and has been keeping her up most nights.  Wes, he has the same cold and his cough is terrifying.  It sends Dan and I flying towards his room each time he starts.  But just to make it interesting, Wes also has pink eye.  Oh, and he projectile vomited in our bed at 1 am yesterday.

All this combined with prepping for the move has just plain tuckered me out.  Days are full and nights aren’t long enough.  I am very excited to end the chapter of our story that is this house and begin the next when we are settled in the new place.  I’m longing for normalcy, routine and order.  I predict all that is a short few weeks away.  Cross your fingers for me.

And just for good measure, a completely unrelated photo, here is the picture of health – a far cry from what you’d see at our house these days:
