The weekend was amazing. Seriously amazing. It was long, warm, sunny and very chill. We had a few plans, some played out, some got cancelled – but we just rolled with it. It was truly delicious. Speaking of awesome, here are a few other things bringing a smile to my face today: – Morning bath time. It kicks nighttime bath time’s caboose x 100. Or even 1000. I swear it’s like a little dose of happy for all of us. – Potty training. Ok, that’s a bit much. I actually loathe potty training. But I do love that Wes is doing his business in the potty about 50-60% of the time. No need to thank me, Landfill. Just doing my part. – After much discussion, Dan and I are moving forward on some home renovations. Major ones. Phase 1 to begin within the next 4 weeks. A more detailed post is on the way. – Coming to the realization that we only have about 5 weeks or so of cold weather left. I have a serious desire to be outside in the warm sun. It may be fueled by the knowledge that with spring comes a 50% less expenditure of energy when prepping the kids for outside play. Ahhh…the days of sundresses and shorts are within reach, People. – Waking up to find out that Monday this week is actually a Tuesday, all thanks to Family Day. – Getting word that one of my favourite people is coming to town for an entire week. I cannot wait for her arrival. I plan to hog her as much as she’ll let me. What’s fueling your happy today? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We got a note a few weeks ago asking parents NOT to send any kid of treats for Valentine’s Day. I understand, but was bummed. I’m a cookie/cupcake bringing mama and I was looking forward to doing something special for Valentine’s Day. I even had a few recipes I was looking forward to trying. This little pink note took the wind out of my sails. So I was back to square one. What to send in the place of sweets for my little sweet and her little buddies? I went straight to Pinterest. I found some pretty adorable ideas like this one, this one and this one. (Ok, the last one involves a treat, but it was so darn cute…) But in the end, none were really what I wanted. Enter the love bug. Jaia and I came up with the idea to fashion some love bugs out of pipe cleaners for all her friends. Personalized. Homemade. Sweet. A perfect gift for Valentine’s Day, according to Jaia who tells me they ‘were a hit with all her friends…even the boys and her teacher!’ Excellent.

the superhero lollipop is my favourite. I think that’s what I’m going to be for hallowe’en this year. I can attest that the bugs looked great. I have some crafty girls! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I’m not sure I’ve had this much fun behind the camera in a long time. I adore when they play along… Whatever you are doing or not doing to celebrate a day that celebrates love, enjoy every single second of it. Happy Valentine’s Day! ![]()

the chalkboard makes an amazing background. the cuteness of the munchkins also helps, but I’m biased 🙂

Thanks all. It was so fun. Now to come up with something for Easter. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Quite literally. My little gal takes after her mama. She recycles and composts everything she can. She’s adamant that others do it too – “to save our planet”. But the truth is, I can’t take all the credit. A year ago or so, Jaia watched Toy Story 3. Great movie. If you haven’t seen it, I apologize in advance for the spoiler, but at a certain point, the toys find themselves in quite the predicament – on a conveyor belt that takes trash to an incinerator. To a little kid, the thought of the toys burning is terrifying. Ever since that day, we are not allowed to throw anything out. Anything. Paper. Socks with holes in them. Empty loot bags. Broken crayons. All forbidden. Because of they are thrown out, they’ll be burned. We actually have to hide what we throw away from her. And heaven forbid I get caught like I did the other day when she spied a broken Tinkerbell light up fairy thing with a broken wing in the trash. Big. Trouble. It’s kind of win/win though, isn’t it? She recycles (and saves the planet in the process) and paper, holey socks and broken crayons don’t get burned to a crisp – until she’s not looking, that is. Out of sight, out of mind. (For the record, we’ve explained to her that all garbage is not burned, but she’s sticking to this one. I’m a ‘pick your battle’ kind of gal and this one isn’t worth fighting…for now. 😉
