Dionisms

Slate.com collects Bushisms, where George W.’s less-than-eloquent moments are captured for posterity.

“I think we are welcomed. But it was not a peaceful welcome.”—Philadelphia, Dec. 12, 2005, on the reception of American forces in Iraq

Jean Chretien was known for his colorful use of english, but managed to get his point across, with frequent exceptions:

“No, a proof is a proof. What kind of a proof? It’s a proof. A proof is a proof, and when you have a good proof, it’s because it’s proven.”

But I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Stephane Dion will mangle the English language in ways that haven’t yet been invented.

“A key role, uh, in how much money will fix, and how much jobs will make in a sustainable way.”

What’s interesting is that his quotes are often corrected by media outlets when they appear in print. Is that proper journalism? Watch for it in the months ahead, and compare what you read to what you hear …

Sonja - How about this Dionism from a speech in Alberta about the oil and gas industry:

“I don’t want to kill the milk cow. But I want to make sure that the milk will still be good and there for our grandchildren.”

Of course as a Quebecer talking about milking Alberta, this speech didn’t really go over all that well.

Things are looking up!

Although I won’t be wearing them anytime soon, I’m happy to say that I officially fit back into my regular, pre-pregnancy pants. I’m a happy, happy girl.

Excellent.

Kristin - Holy crap! Way to go…that’s fantastic!

POTD – Day 15

I missed a day. I feel bad. And today’s photo is obviously not from today, but it is one you haven’t seen. And it’s adorable. So I’m using it as the POTD.

Heather - I am lazy, but not this lazy.

I am a PB purist.

contributor mark - it’s unsticky? what the hell? that’s like uncold ice.

Kristin - I would say it’s neither lazy nor genius…but it is definitely disgusting.

WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO????

OK. I’m done.

Todd - Too weird for myself, cheese in a plastic wrap is bad enough. What’s next jelly slices, mayo slices, or maybe all the condiments as slices, ketchup, mustard, the possibilities are endless. This needs to be stopped now.

Lisa - A big part of enjoying food is the consistency…..you just shouldn’t be able to bite of a “piece” of peanut butter…it’s not right. Besides, I would argue it takes just as much effort to spread on some PB as it would to unwrap a slice of it….
