Sean who?

Daniel Craig is James Bond. All previous portrayals were but filling time until now. You can disagree in the comments, but I’ll defend Danny like a ferret in the mid-afternoon who hasn’t had his lunch yet.

If you haven’t seen it, it’s excellent.

Jessie - I agree WHOLEHEARTEDLY. This is one hell of a Bond. I know that is goes without saying, but Daniel Craig is one billion times better than Pierce Brosnan. Sean Connery’s Bond has found it’s 21st Century equivalent, that’s for sure.

WEIRD Ottawa weather.

Ok, so I’m still in disbelief that we are going to have a green Christmas.  I think it sucks.  I don’t ski or snowboard (or even skate – yes, it’s embarrassing…but I got skates for Christmas last year and I plan to learn, with vigor, this winter), so you wouldn’t think the lack of snow would bother me, but it does.  I’m Canadian and I like my winters white.  That’s just how it works.  Plus, how am I going to pull off Operation Snowman 2 without any snowmen to stalk?

Anyway, as I sit here looking out the window, I keep getting false hope.  It’ll start to ‘snow’ (really just flurries), and then the sun comes right out to melt whatever actually stayed on the ground.  It’s already happened a few times today.

Then, all of a sudden I heard some ‘pinging’ on the window.  When I looked outside, it was hailing!  Hailing hard.  What the heck?  The sun was beaming just moments ago.  It’s bizarre.  And indecisive.  Can’t Mother Nature make up her damn mind…and send some real snow here while she’s at it?

And as I close off this post, the sun is out again.  Pick an element already.

LISA - The weather has me so torn! It’s warm=GOOD. But there is no snow=BAD. Regardless of the pros and cons, it’s a disturbing fact that it is unusually warm in the winter in Canada=NOT GOOD AT ALL. I blame George Bush. BOTH OF THEM!

p.s the security word I had to type in to post this was PICKLE…for some reason that’s hilarious

LISA - THE NEXT SECURITY WORD IS humph???? Coincedence or is Dan messing with me??!!…………I think I need to go home…..

Le weekend.

This weekend was busy. Not to mention that it capped off my last week of work, but it seemed that every minute was spoken for throughout. Not the best idea when you are 9 months pregnant. A nap was definitely in order on Sunday.

dsc_0180sm.jpgAfter my work party on Friday afternoon (which was at Giovanni’s on Preston street…DELISH!), we headed over Chez Pundyk/Wylie for some good ol’ fashioned hat game fun. It was the third such get-together and Dan and I were looking forward to it. Much of the review can be found on Kris’ blog, so I won’t repeat it here. Except to say that I, and my partner, won! And though it wasn’t the same partner (Ed last year and Kurtis this year), that makes it two in a row for me. I’m actually the hat game champion. I deserve a prize…or at least some public recognition.

Saturday was also busy. Early in the day my friend and favourite photographer, Angela, came over to take pictures and answer all my camera/photo-taking questions. Lucky for me she’s is patient. Once I returned her back to her non-annoying question-answering life, it was time to prepare for Christmas Fancy 2006.

dsc_0265sm.jpgEvery year since Dan and I have been together, we and the Nicholses have celebrated the holiday season with a fancy dinner out on the town. A lot has changed since that first dinner at the Eclectic Noodle 4 years ago…Jen and Lisa have moved away, we met Sonja and Mark and Jason (and now Laura and Dean) who have since started joining us, and well this year, I could barely fit between the wall and the table.

But even with all the changes, we always look forward to Christmas Fancy. This year we made reservations at Metropolitain and other than the ridiculously sloooooooow service, I had no complaints. My meal was phenom. I heard that the other liked theirs too, but I think I won. Definitely get the pork tenderloin if you go. Mouth watering.

We left earlish (11:30) because my parents were arriving from Virginia, but I hear the rest of the night was awesome. We’ll definitely be in for the long haul next year…if we can find a sitter.

Kristin - That is a gorgeous photo of you, Sonja and Michelle. You all look great! Sounds like fun.

Hat game…good times. Shannen’s nouns? Deadly.

December 19, 2006 - 2:31 pm

dan - If anyone is wondering about the 4th photo, Sonja and I had our hands in position for Shannen to come running back to. But she never came … so Sonja’s hand is on the Invisible Lady’s pregnant belly.

Sonja - I’m glad you explained because upon looking at the photo I suddenly felt extremely uncomfortable.

mike machargo - hey, Who is that Handsome guy dancing with you in the photo from the “Hat Game” Party??

A day late and a dollar short.

I feel less bad about not posting Happy Birthday wishes to Kris because we celebrated her big day on Thursday…which makes it early and, in my opinion, relieves me of all guilt.

But either way, a Happy Birthday still goes out to Kris, my favourite blogger and the best friend I ever made as an ex-employee of the place we never worked at together.  I hope your Sunday birthday was exhilarating.

I’m sorry to report that even though you put the order in, BGF decided not to make an appearance on December 17th.  She’s apparently quite comfy tucked inside and is waiting a little longer before joinning us.  Perhaps on New Years?  That would make for quite the party story, now wouldn’t it?  I’ll do my best to convince her to try for the “First Babe of 2007’…

December 18, 2006 - 10:20 am

Kristin - Thanks! Birthday weekend was fab. I’m about to post about it.

I’m on board for a due-date delivery of BGF, being January 16th and the anniversary of the day I met Kurtis.

Shameful belatedness.

Friday was my sister’s birhtday. She should have received a post of her own to commemorate the day, but I was too busy, which is a crappy excuse. But I was. But not to busy to call, which I did. Phewf.

I’m happy to report, that even without my ‘Happy Birfday’ wishes, Liz went on to have a fabulous dinner with the parentals and an absolutely smashing, alcohol-fueled, stay-out-until-3:30-am kind of night…the kind that you regret most of the next day. What more can a girl ask for?

Liz, welcome to the 26-30 survey category. It’s actually more fun than it looks.

Lizzie Jean - Thanks for the birthday wishes. I love that picture. I’m starting to make a habit out of wearing tiaras out to bars. It makes for a great night.

December 18, 2006 - 8:01 am

dan - You could be the Imelda Marcos of tiaras, a closet full of them, one for every occasion!

Happy bDay bLiz.
