While Dan was busy with my two babes over the weekend, I was basking in the glow of time away with no responsibility, no internet, no clocks and no schedule. I won’t lie, I missed my family, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying very rare time away with people who have been my best friends for almost a quarter of a century. The people who’ve known me the longest. Who remember me when I had braces and teased hair. The same people who remember tales of my very first date and also of the last person I dated (and everything in between). They know all my stories and have been there to offer a shoulder whenever I’ve needed it. We were just kids ourselves when we met so many years ago and now we all watch our kids play together. I feel so fortunate to still know these gals. To still see them and to still be part of their lives. This weekend we laughed, we ate, we drank, we relaxed, we played, we ate, we danced, we napped, we talked, we almost lost Alicia on a runaway dock, we ate some more, but mostly we just enjoyed. There were rarely moments of silence as we have 23+ years of memories to keep us busy. We talked lovingly about those we were missing, hoping the next time sees us all together again. I’ve heard it said that you should surround yourself with people who lift you higher, and this weekend I did just that. Thanks girls, for another perfect weekend away. The perfect view: The perfect start: The shenanigans: The rest are here.

Very nice Shan – thanks for posting them! Awesome weekend ladies, only 51.5 weeks until the next one!! Don’t forget our scheduled spring fling, and our plans for an all-inclusive and…. Love you guys! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It’s been awhile since I’ve shared some Jaiaisms. This kid has me in stitches most days with the stuff she comes up with. She just seems so very grown up with the way thinks sometimes. Jaia: Mama, are you tired? Me: Yes. Jaia: You can’t be. you have two kids! Me: I do. And who do you think makes me this tired? Jaia: Wesley. _____________________________________________________________ One day, after school… Me: So Jaia, did you have fun at school today? Jaia: I had so much fun! Then she stops to think… Do little girls who have fun at school get ice cream? _____________________________________________________________ A few weeks ago when Dan was away on business… Jaia: Where’s Daddy, Mama? Me: Daddy’s out of town. Jaia: He’s in the forest? Me (laughing): No, he’s in a town called Barrie. Jaia: Mama, that’s not a town, that’s a fruit! Me (still laughing): Good point. I’m leaving for the weekend. I’m heading to a cottage with some of my besties. It is the 8th or 9th annual getaway. It’s a time for us to get away, to re-connect and to selfishly take care of only ourselves for a few days. For me, it’s going to involve a lot of sleep. Even if I can’t squeze in a nap or two, just sleeping through the night for the first time in months will be heaven sent. I can’t wait. Leaving my babies for the weekend? Harder than you’d think. But they are with their dad and they will have a blast. And me, I’ll be pampering myself with some serious and long overdue girl time. And on Sunday when I get back I will be relaxed, refreshed, re-connected and ready to jump back into my crazy, sleep-deprived, and very awesome reality. Have a great one! See you in a few!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
