Happy Birthday, Lisa D.

In order to try to repair damage done last week when I ‘forgot’ Sonja’s birthday (I have a rep to protect here), I thought it best to post this message before the day passed me by without blog-mention.

Happy birthday to the smashing and footloose Lisa D.  May 31 be your best ever.

Deano - looking good lis….looking goood!

Breaking news (to me anyway)…

0761478.jpgWhile Dan was picking up his weekly Proline tickets at the local convenience store, I found myself bored and standing in front of the magazine rack.  After browsing for a few minutes, I noticed something strange.  BOP magazine, one of my favourites from my ‘tween years, featured not one celebrity kid or teen that I recognized.  Not even the sibling or child of someone I’d heard of.  Not even one.

It was at that moment that I realized just how old I really am.  What’s next?  Being called Ma’am, Depends, and hearing aids?

**OK, the picture is not of the exact cover that saw, because in this case there is one face I recognize…Billy Joe, the lead singer of Green Day.  I ask myself if it more embarrassing for me because I’ve only just discovered that I’m old, or for Billy Joe, 3 years my senior, who is appearing (twice) on the cover with a new crop of fresh faced 12-year olds and is at least 20 years older than all of them.  Poor guy.  And yet somehow it makes me feel better.

Decorated Onesies…

This weekend I gathered some of my girls together to decorate onesies for Peanut. What is a onesie you ask? Well, to quote myself when trying to describe it to my mom…”You know, those undershirty things for babies that snap at the crotch?” She understood. And I bet you do too. I’m an excellent describer of things undefined.

Anyway, I hatched the plan as a way to spend the afternoon with the ladies (and kiddos), but also as a perfect excuse to sit around tha table doing arts and crafts without any complaints from anyone. I mean, how could they complain if their efforts would turn out to be keepsakes for the newest little addition to the group.

Plus, their kids had a blast. It was less about the art and more about chasing the happiest hound in Barrhaven, Humphrey, around and around and around the living room and up and down the stairs. He slept like a champ after the crew left.

And of course I took pictures…

mark - Those are pretty cool I guess, but wouldn’t Peanut prefer to have one of these?
