Happy Mama’s Day!

My first mother’s day has been amazing.  It started with the rare appearance of Jaia sleeping through night and has included a beautiful card from Jaia (with handwriting that looks suspiciously like Dan’s), a leisurely morning at Chapters and Starbucks, the delivery of BEAUTIFUL flowers, and some time out in the sun.  The celebration continues into the afternoon and evening with plans to enjoy a picnic, a long walk and of course, photo- taking.  Dan knows exactly how to spoil me.

In honour of our beautiful moms/first time grandmas:

And, of course, the newest mom on the block:

If you think you’ve seen this Magnum before, you’re right.  He currently resides in the Magnum room chez Mark & Sonja.

Danielle - ahhhhh that’s pretty amazing. She’s next to my favorite Quigley (down under) 😀

Diane Belanger - I thought I was the only one left who was a magnum PI fan. Not only that I still think he’s good looking and one of the few who can get away with a mustache! So who’s the fan, Mark or Sonja?

Happy Birthday, Mama Menard.

I hope it’s awesome.

Jen - HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA!

ps. the picture was taken at the whiskey on my birthday a couple years ago

Love the butter but hate the separation?

Genius.

There’s nothing worse than opening up a new jar, putting a knife or spatula in to mix, and getting oil all over you, the jar and the counter.

EAP - Just buy Kraft Peanut Butter and you can avoid having to buy a stirrer. Besides, “natural” peanut butter (whatever “natural” means – as far as I can tell, if it exists in the universe, it’s natural) tastes terrible and has a disgusting consistency. Remember Smoothie and Crunchy?

“We’re the Kraft Peanut Butter teddy bears,
With a fresh little story to tell.
Kraft Peanut Butter stays fresher in the jar,
Than peanuts (cha-cha-cha) in the shell!”

Kristin - I eat “natural” almond or peanut butter every single morning on my toast and here is my advice:

Take a knife. Plunge the knife into the almond/peanut butter. Stab it a few times to mix it up a bit. Remove knife and spread on toast. Lick knife, or remove residue with finger. Place knife in dishwasher and place almond/peanut butter back in the fridge.

Kraft peanut butter is disgusting! It’s texture is…unnatural.

Shannen - I’m with EAP. Go Kraft.

May 10, 2007 - 11:42 am

EAP - I’ve tried “natural” peanut butter before and all I can say about it is that I’d rather lie in a pit of my own purulent nasty than ever eat it again. Kraft, on the other hand, is the undisputed king of peanut butter.

Still no one has explained why Kraft PB is any less “natural” than the so-called “natural” PB, They both exist in nature, made of materials that are found in nature. The label “natural” has about as much meaning as “organic”, which is just another marketing ploy to get you to buy product A over product B.

May 11, 2007 - 10:39 am

Jessie - I am firmly in camp natural PB! And this is hard for me to admit – after being subjected to it throughout my childhood and swearing that as soon as I grew up it’d be Skippy’s all the way! (Skippy’s does have its place – you know, the one with the peanut on top?)

Once I became old enough to control my own supply of nut butters, I realized that the natural shit just tastes better. Plus, no sugar added – and with the Kraft and co. PB’s they take out the natural oils and add some other oils and add sugar. So in my mind they are very different products.

I totally want one of those gadgets. That’d be a great stocking stuffer!
