Dan - The top one looks like you caught her in mid-crawl. I feel like it’s going to be soon … we should probably start Jaia-proofing the house soon!

Sonja - Great snaps Shan – they look very pro.

Happy 1st Father’s Day to Dan

Jaia is a very lucky little girl to have you as her dad.

Kris - Happy Fathers Day, Dan!

June 18, 2007 - 9:02 am

Dan - We had a wonderful day. Thanks Mamma and Jaia!

June 18, 2007 - 9:44 pm

Dave - And a Happy Father’s Day to you, Dan. We blew the card and telephone call but can be excused (sort of) due to our boats, cars, and planes odyssey. We started at 0630 PDT on Father’s Day, 17 Jun and finished at home at 0910 AM EDT on Monday, 18 Jun.

Thank you both for my card. And yes, 50 miles, uphill in both directions, snowing, and with the wind always in your face. But now that I am a Grandpa, I always get to drive!

June 18, 2007 - 9:46 pm

Dave - Opps! Thank you, ALL THREE (and Humphrey, and the felines)!

June 19, 2007 - 3:02 pm

Gary - I think that picture with Dan with Hat and Jaia crying is my favorite picture of all time. It’s so funny on many different levels. I’m pretty sure in 25 years or so, Jaia will break out that picture to show her friends to explain to them all that Dan is about without having to say a word.

June 19, 2007 - 4:30 pm

Kristin - I’m pretty sure Jaia is laughing in that photo…no?

June 19, 2007 - 6:42 pm

Dan - She *is* laughing! I’m not saying I don’t make her cry sometimes too, but she definitely thought I was hilarious that day …

June 20, 2007 - 3:20 pm

Gary - It’s not as funny if Jaia is laughing so I’m going to forget that conversation took place. Really though, if you’re looking at that picture for the first time would not 9 out of 10 people think she was crying? If Dan took my hat and looked at me like that, I would probably cry.

Day 167 – First time in the water

It took Jaia a few months to get over her supreme hatred of bathtime.  I gladly gave that job of stripping her down and bathing her to Dan because she would scream as soon as the first toe would hit the water until we pulled her out and wrapped her in a big snuggly towel.  I much preferred being the one with the towel than the one who was torturing her with the water.

But then suddenly she changed her tune.  She loves her time in the tub now.  It’s like she actually looks forward to it in the evenings and it seems to calm her right down and gets her ready for bedtime.

So I was hopeful as I headed towards a friend’s cottage with Jaia’s first tiny bathing suit and water toys packed in my bag.  And she didin’t disappoint.  She seemed a little confused at first, but within a few minutes, she was happily splashing around and eating sand.  It was a roaring success.  And surprise, surprise, I have the pictures to prove it.
