The quick recap.

The wedding events started on Thursday night and wrapped up at noon on Sunday.  Every single detail was perfectly planned and went off without a hitch.  It was beautiful and memorable and the bride and groom were amazing through it all.  I didn’t have my camera with me for the wedding, but otherwise, I tried to capture some moments to share.

And because Dan and I never like to do anything half-assed, we also had a house full of visitors this weekend too.  My parents were in town to babysit Jaia while Dan and I were at the wedding and other wedding-related events, but we also had Jon, Des and Chris (a.k.a. Crispy) in town to celebrate the long weekend, Ottawa style.  That too was amazing.  The trio, along with Dan, Jaia and I hit downtown early in the day and after a long walk around to see the sites (and the people) we hooked up a perfect people watching spot on a sheltered patio for the rest of the day/evening.

Mrs. Woods - I love the ones of us relaxing at lunch and at the spa – I can’t believe that was only a few days ago! I sure feel like I have been married for months!

Great shot of you and Peanut – very pretty!

shannen - I like the one of you and your dad. I got a cute one of Jessie and your Grandma too.

And it begins…

Sonja and Mark’s wedding weekend starts……………….Now.  Ok, not now.  At 6pm, but still.  I can’t wait.  It’s going to be awesome.

See you Sunday.  Oh wait…Make that Monday.   Sunday is Canada Day and we can’t waste that day recovering.   With a baby and friends in town who have yet to experience the extreme Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa, rest will have to wait until Monday.

So exciting.

Happy wedding weekend and Canada Day to you and yours.

Berry Season

For the first time in a long time, I remembered that it was berry season before every berry bush had already been picked and the in-store prices were jacked up once again.  To celebrate, we decided to head to the local berry patch and do some picking of our own.  That’s a lie.  I picked, Dan ate.   He guessed that he only put about 5 in the basket, and the rest went straight into his belly.

So the beautiful, over-flowing basket was all my doing.  By the end I had only tasted the one strawberry Dan handed to me and…well, I couldn’t hide the evidence.

Jaia had about as much fun as an almost 6 month old can while watching her parents pick (eat) berries on a hot, hot, hot and humid summer afternoon.  I imagine next year will prove to be more exciting as she can romp around on her own and follow the trail of berry tops that her dad leaves behind.
