Day 252 – Oh, Wes.

My little Wesley.  The past month has been a busy, busy one for you.  You took your first loooong car ride to Virginia for Christmas and survived (barely) 10 hours in the car each way.  We also hopped on a plane (not your first time in your short 8 months) and sailed back through two time zones making you, us and the poor young ones (kidless and under 25s) in the next room to deal with your 3:30am wake up calls.

The last month has been tough on any sort of routine that we had sort of carved out forcing us to literally start over, with not much success so far.  I have faith that life will settle down over the next couple of weeks and maybe, just maybe we can all start getting some sleep around here.

Now for the good news/fun stuff.  Since December 26th when you cut your first tooth you’ve seen milestone after milestone.  In early January you slept through the night for the very first time.  It only lasted one night, but it proves that it is possible.  I probably woke up every hour on the hour waiting for that familiar sound to cut through the night, but it never came.  Now if we could only sleep through the night on the SAME night…

You’ve also started pulling yourself up on furniture and cruising around it, climbing stairs, and as of today, you’ve started waving.  That’s a lot in just a few weeks.  And it’s been keeping me on my toes.  When parents say “I only looked away for a few seconds”, I finally know what they mean.  In a matter of seconds you can make it clear across the room and be putting a wire in your mouth or be heading straight for the outlet.  Or a vase.

We’re in for some trouble, aren’t we?

Dominik - I think you are in some trouble – but relish every moment 😉
