The Bloggers Three et al

We are in Victoria, BC.  It’s my first time here and certainly as far West as I’ve ever been.  I had a few missions while here and all have been accomplished.  I even did some things that I had not intended on doing but was forced into- by my own clutzyness.

First of all, I wanted to see the ocean.  We visited in Vancouver briefly while we ate fudge and watched Jaia run in circles as her chocolate high kicked in.  Those pictures deserve their own post and I plan to get on that when I have more time.

But back to the ocean visit in Victoria.  I get so easily distracted.

This morning Kris and Kurt picked us up and took us to the Victoria breakwater.  It was beautiful but FREEZING.  Not just the water, but the air.  It felt like November.  We were not bundled near enough and dipping my toe in the water was out. of. the. question.  So though my skin did not touch the water, I still feel like the mission was accomplished.

In fact, very unexpectedly, I ended up closer to the water than I planned.  As I ran towards Dan and Jaia to take advantage of a super photo op, my cellphone fell out of my pocket, which I then proceeded to kick off the edge of the breakwater.  Thankfully there was another ledge below and that it didn’t go flying straight into the Pacific, as I thought it might.  I climbed down to get it and after a quick replace of the back cover, it was good as…well, good as a phone that had been kicked off a breakwater.  It now has a few boo boos, but they make it unique looking and now make for a good story.

The other thing I really wanted to do while here, other than catch up Kris, was to finally meet Heather face to face.  Another mission accomplished.  Yesterday, Heather, Kris and I met up for coffee before our dinner for 12 people so we could really get a chance to chat.  It was awesome.  We’ve been ‘friends’ for a couple of years, but had never spoken or seen each other in real life.  Turns out, I really like her.  Kris has wonderful taste in friends…obviously.  😉

Heather - Awesome. It was SO lovely to meet you and your gorgeous family! I only wish I didn’t have this nasty deadline and could have played a bit more (and that I could have conjured up the sunshine too).
Hope you come back to visit us soon!!

rachel Edwards - Great shots! And I’m sorry we missed each other so nearly. Probably passed on the ferries! I hope Victoria was very good to you.

Auntie Lizzie - I had a feeling when I saw that photo on facebook of you with your phone that there had been a “nearly lost” incident.
