Making the best of rainy days…

It’s been ugly here lately. We barely get out from under one cloud when another rushes in. We’ve definitely had way more rainy days than sunny ones over the past weeks. It’s June and yet we all seem to need to wrap ourselves in sweaters and coats on the way to work because it hasn’t been above 10 or 12 degrees any morning, at least since the end of April.

After a long day of work, I look forward to nothing more than picking Jaia up from daycare so that we can play hard before dinner and up until bedtime. My long days have shrunk down to just a few hours with her, so we love to make the best of them.

Our favourite is to head outside and run around on the lawn. Jaia adores being outside and normally puts up a huge stink when we tell her it’s time to head in. But the hour or so outside at the end of the day makes it so worth it. Unfortunately, it’s been so terrible out lately, that we’ve had to coop up our play, much to the chagrin of mama and Jaia.

But yesterday we decided to make the best of it.  After reading for awhile…

Cabin fever set in.

So we got ready…

and headed out.

And then I went nutso with the camera.

I couldn’t resist.  Is anything cuter than a kid in her rain gear?

After seeing these I don’t even mind the weather so much.

Dan - That first one on the step is ridiculous. She is so cooking up a scheme to wreak havoc!
