I mentioned 100 years ago that we were working on some changes to the house. That, my friends, would be an understatement. The 100 years, I mean.
We have failed. Every single reno that we started, is still unfonished. But we are so good at not finishing things we start that I no longer notice them. But still, even the half finished projects look WAY better than where we were when we started out.
Exhibit A: THE KITCHEN
I went back to the archives to grab these photos from our walk through just after we purchased our new old house. Please take note of:
white ceramic knobs
the general mess (they were obviously not looking to impress us anymore)
The hanging pot disaster
plaid window covering
We had a lot of work ahead of us…And so it began.
We knocked out the constraining cabinets, replaced the hideous flooring and moved the ill-placed fridge. And found some delightful surprises.
And also had some ‘help’ along the way.
And here we are…
Blinded by the beauty compared with where we started, you may not notice at first that the big beautiful island we have planned out has not yet been constructed, that there is still no backsplash, that there is a cupboard missing and the temporary countertop, well, is apparently staying a little longer than originally planned.
But still. It is progress. And although a lot of work remains, we are getting there. Slowly but surely.
Stay tuned for part 2 where I will post a lot of pictures of our staircase project to attempt to distract you from the fact that it, too, is nowhere near completed.
