The weather this weekend was not perfect. A lot of dark clouds hung over head and rain fell at times throughout both days. But in between, and during, we enjoyed every single second.
Dan posted our photos from a family canoe voyage on Saturday morning. I was not brave enough to bring my camera on the boat, but I felt sad that I was not able to capture just how amazing it was. The view was phenomenal. The water, so still, looked like glass. But even better than that, was the constant chatter coming from behind me as our two curious first mates devoured this new experience. Both kids loved being in the canoe and using their “Wes-sized” paddles, demanding that Dan and I stop now and then so they could do all the work. We obliged.
At $15 for an hour and a half at our local marina, they guaranteed that we’ll be regulars. We’re already planning to go back next weekend.
The rest of the weekend played out with first swims on our pool, first BBQs with friends and family, afternoon naps, soccer games. After hibernating for what feels like 2 years, we were ready to welcome summer with arms wide open. Here’s proof:
My niece, Araya. Fruit Monster.
We keep trying to count her freckles but we just can’t seem to keep up.
