She woke up and you could tell she already felt different. She seemed different.
She reminded her little brother that this was her big day at least 4 (or 40) times.
She took extra care getting dressed and asked specifically for two braids in her hair. Everything had to be just right.
Today my girl graduated from senior kindergarten.
As I walked into the school library, decorated with balloons and banners, it hit me. Life as we know it was about to change. But I was ok, until I saw her walk into the room. Seeing her in her handmade cap literally made my heart burst open in my chest. I felt like I couldn’t breathe for a minute or two.
But then she looked at me. Eyes bright, smile from ear to ear. And suddenly, instead of feeling sad, I felt at ease. She was thrilled. She walked across the stage and picked up her diploma with confidence, surrounded by all her friends. I couldn’t ask for more.
I am so very proud of my girl. This adventure has been one of my most favourites ever, and I can’t wait to see where else we get to go with her. What a ride it will be.
And just for fun:
Dan - Love the grad 2012 photo! It was great seeing her in her element. She also had an important role to play in the “Merci” song they sang … she stepped forward and held up the letter C at a pivotal moment. She nailed it 🙂
Alicia - Very sweet! Congratulations Jaia!
Carolle - So so beautiful…. this girl is amazing… grandpa Gerry and grandma Carolle are so proud of you. Congratulations Jaia!!! we love you, hope to see you soon. xxx
