Jaia and Wes spent time with my parents over the past few days. Their visits together are never, ever long enough (for all of us), but this visit was especially…special. With Dan and I away, Nana and Papoo were in charge and completely responsible for keeping the kids happy, entertained and relatively unscathed.
Mission accomplished. And then some. I even started to feel a bit a lot sad as Jaia seemed to barely want to spend 5 minutes talking to me because she might miss out on some fun with Nana.
But what ended up to be the most amazing and unexpected outcome from the visit, was the special bond formed between Wes and his Papoo. They were inseparable. Wes followed him around endlessly and would call out for him when he was out of sight. Papoo rocked Wes to sleep every night and rushed in to get him when he would hear him stirring. Peas and carrots, they are.
To be honest though, I’m not sure who was more smitten.
