Roadtrippin’

Our first one was for a friend’s wedding when Jaia was 6 months old. I braved the 2 hour hour drive by myself in virtual fear that she might start screaming while I was on the highway, in traffic, and unable to calm her. She didn’t make but happy little squeals the entire time.

Fast forward to today, almost exactly 4 years later, and the girl and I are about to embark on another roadtrip together, just the two of us. Oddly enough, to the same city as the first.

We have big plans, she and I. But mostly it is just an opportunity to soak each other in. She loves her brother, but some time away without her sidekick is good for the soul too. And her little 4 year old soul needs some away time, for sure.

And she’s excited. It makes my heart go a-flutter to my hear her tell everyone who will listen about the trip we are taking together, just her and her mama.

And much different than last time, Jaia packed her own suitcase, complete with extra outfits, just like I always do. A girl after my own heart.
