My turn

I take a lot of pictures.  A LOT.  I think I have close to 50,000 under my belt so far.  It’s kind of insane.  But I like it.  No, I love it. Capturing that perfect moment is bliss for me.

And because I like taking pictures so much, I’m rarely in them.  It is much easier for me to be behind the camera than in front of it.  I feel very self-conscious and though I’ve never been told so, I think I’m a giant pain about having my picture taken.  I do not hesitate to hit the delete button if I think I look crappy.  It is silly, really.  In the years to come my kids won’t care if I’m wearing make-up or if I look like I’ve put on a few pounds in the pictures, but they will care if I don’t appear in them.

And to be honest, I think I will too.  I don’t now, but I will.

So I’m challenging myself (and any of you that I spend time with).  I’ll be turning the camera on myself.  And I won’t cringe or exit stage left if anyone else picks up a camera.  I want some family pictures with me in them.  I’ll be setting the self-timer on the four of us at least once a month and I will try my best not to hit delete.

To start me off I thought I’d post a couple of photos that my beautiful and extremely talented friend Kris took of me and the kids while she was here in the summer.  Dan was working so he couldn’t join us, but I’m still thrilled to have captured a very tiny little Wes while he was still very tiny.
