Cabin Fever.

I’m tired of winter.  Yes, I do realize that we’ve had it incredibly easy this year.  Hardly any snow until January, but in my defense, I’ve been fairly housebound since the start of 2007.  It’s not that I can’t go anywhere, it’s that I haven’t really wanted to.  It was cold.  And I was busy.  Until now.

We had a slew of houseguests over the past 7 weeks.  It’s been wonderful.  I loved every minute of it.  I dropped the last visitor (Jen) off at the airport this morning and though one might normally be happy to be able to get back into their daily routine, sans visitors, I felt a tinge of sadness.  I miss everyone already.  Dan, Jaia and I are incredibly lucky.  We have an amazing family.  I just wish they didn’t live so far away.

So now I’m going to focus on springtime.  According to Punxsutawney Phil and his Canadian cousin, spring is to arrive on the early side this year.  I’m counting on it.  Humphrey is counting on it.  And we’re both counting the days.  This winter has not been friendly to poor Humph.  On a recent walk his paws got so cold and he actually tried to lift all four off the ground at the same time.  Dan tells me it wasn’t pretty.

As I see it, spring can only bring good things.  Warm weather, long walks, bright sunshine – all of which will make the Fullerton girls and their canine companion very happy.  I’m predicting a lot of time spent on the NCC trails in the near future.  Excellent.
