Day 131 – 1001

My counter rolled to 1001 today.  1001 posts on forgetful.ca.  Quite the milestone, I’d say.  Well, for me it is.  Though lately, I feel as if I don’t have time to breathe, let alone post.  But now that I look back on all the moments my (or Dan’s) posts have captured, I don’t regret one single word typed or one picture posted.

Forgetful has been my journal.  My completely public, shared journal.  Over the last 1001 posts, I’ve experienced some life changing events.  I am not the same person I was when I wrote my first entry.  Most notably, I’m a now mom.  Two times over.  It would still catch me off guard were it not for the tiny reminders at (or under) my feet.

But over that time I’ve also changed jobs, had 2 maternity leaves and started working from home.  I’ve seen family and close friends get married and have babies.  I’ve had experienced heartache when people that I loved dearly passed away.  I’ve moved houses (at least a few times).  I’ve travelled to Europe, the Caribbean and to the US and western Canada countless times. I found a passion for taking pictures and have turned it into a business that I love.  I’ve made new friends and re-connected with old ones.  We gutted and renovated parts of our house.  And my girl started school.

But I’ve also lived through the mundane days.  The days where nothing at all happens.  I’ve ignored giant piles of laundry and let the dishwasher go unemptied.  I’ve questioned choices.  I’ve received bad news. I’ve let the suitcases from all the travels go unpacked for longer than I’d like to admit.  I’ve argued with my husband. I’ve screened calls.  I’ve been lazy.  I’ve procrastinated.  I’ve cried and I’ve felt overwhelmed.

But these are the things I choose not to document here.  While what you see and read on forgetful.ca is only a snippet of what happens in our lives – the very best, happiest, proudest moments – there are many moments you probably wouldn’t want to see or read about, so I don’t include them.

So here, on this occasion, I am again celebrating the good things. Only good things. My favourite things:

Here’s to 1001 more!
