Is it that time already?

I haven’t been known to stay in one house very long.  I think my record in the last 15 years or so has been 2 1/2 years in our last house and since we are coming up on 2 years in this house, my feet are starting to itch.

The confusing part is that actually I don’t like moving.  I certainly don’t like packing, I despise living in a messy, cluttered space for any length of time and all that lifting…oh wait, that’s all Dan.  I’m just a girl, after all.  🙂

So this time we are doing what I never thought I would…we are moving to the east end of town.  It’ll probably be Orleans, but we haven’t closed our other east-ish options just yet.  Quite frankly, it’ll depend on what we find, not necessarily the neighbourhood it happens to be in.

Orleans is where I grew up and the only part of town where we have any family.  Though Ottawa is not big, the drive from one end of town to the other seems far if you don’t do it on a regular basis.  So unfortunately, though we have family in town, we don’t see them very often, which I find sad.  If we live closer, there are no more excuses – from any of us.

The idea is pretty exciting,  and we are still flirting with the idea of a much bigger move, but this one is much more doable at the moment, though it certainly doesn’t cancel any others out…it’s just a better home base for us…for now.

I’ll miss this part of town.  We have made a home here for almost 5 years, and I’ve enjoyed it.  We also have some great friends (new and old) who live fairly closeby, but I’ve learned that distance, espcially within the same city, doesn’t stop friendships, you just make more of the time you do spend together.

We are still a couple of months away from listing our house and actually taking the plunge – but we can’t stop ourselves from checking mls.ca everyday for the new listings.  Thankfully Orleans isn’t closer or we would have already spent a few of our Sundays driving from open house to open house before we are ready to commit to anything.

Kris - Oh sure, wait until we leave Orleans and THEN move with your adorable cherub and pets. What? Awesome! You know how I feel about Ottawa’s glorious east end…I highly support this idea. Even though we’re not there to enjoy your proximity. If you’re looking for a real estate agent, I’d highly recommend our property manager. I’ll send you a link to her Royal LePage profile, if you’re interested. What area?

Yay Orleans! Keep me updated! We’re only minorly insulted that this happened after we left, but are looking forward to an Orleans BBQ when we visit! Somehow, I don’t think our tenants would be into us using our deck…
