At first even the mere suggestion seemed crazy. It sounded like a brilliant idea, but would likely be impossible. Was there any point in pursuing it? Would we be shot down if we brought it up?
We weren’t. Dan and I decided that he should take a month of parental leave this summer so that we could spend some quality time together, as a family.
Friday was his last day of work. It still hasn’t completely hit me yet, but I am so, so, so excited. In the last 8 years, Dan and I have rarely had the opportunity to have a stay-cation. Our holidays are happily spent travelling to see family or exploring the world. And more so since we had kids. But we’ve really missed out on time spent at home, our home, just enjoying each other.
So this month is about us. It’s about taking time out. Taking a breath. Taking walks and taking naps. It’s about taking it all in. Taking road trips. Taking pictures. But most of all, it’s about taking time to do the things we keep saying we need to take the time to do but never actually get around to it.
Doesn’t it sound delicious? Let the fun begin.

Dan - Family month has begun! It will surely go too fast, but I hope we grow closer as a family and have wonderful memories of time spent together. These chances don’t come along very often …
