Day 42 – The Matriarch

Meet Dan’s Grandmother and Jaia and Wesley’s great-grandmother.

I first met this amazing lady in 2003 on my inaugural visit to Saskatchewan.  It was her birthday party.  Everyone was there.  And even with the oodles of people milling around, most that I had never met, I was made to feel like I belonged.  Grandma took the time out to have a chat and try to get to know me a little, no matter what else is going on at the time.

She always greets you with a big smile and a warm hug.  She just has that special touch with people.  Including the newest member of the family.

While we were visiting, Wes was having some trouble with gas, as most babies do at that age.  We all took turns trying to calm the little guy down, but it was Grandma who had the most success.  Sitting in the rocking chair, with Wes in her arms, she could have him quiet and happily snoozing within a few minutes.

It’s like he knew, even at only a few weeks old, how lucky he is to have her.

Melanie - Very Nice. She is totally a baby whisperer. I called her for sleeping advice and it worked that night.
