A post about nothing

The holiday season is BUSY for all of us.  Too busy if you ask me.  We save all of our gift giving, time with loved ones, cards, hellos, parties, hugs, dress up, baked goods for one month of the year – and before you know it, it’s over, January is here and we wait 11 months to do it all again.

But this January – as cold and blustery as it will be, is also kinda special for me.  I’m turning 35.  And as much as I can’t believe that I’ll actually be 35, I’m looking forward to it.  I’m the first of most of my friends to reach the milestone and I think it’ll be fun to be the first one through the gate.  I mean, I have no control over it, so why not embrace it.

And now to try to come up with something fun to ring it in.  When I turned 30, Dan et al planned a Dress-up Magnum party for me (and Gary who was turning 29 the next day – sorry, Gary, am I giving away your secrets?)  It was awesome.  Most of the bravest boys grew moustaches for the event, Michelle made a giant ‘pin the moustache on Magnum game board and we got to wear Hawaiian shirts in January.  I had a ball.  And I have pictures to prove it.

Now, I don’t want to compete with Magnum, but I’m hoping to do something fun, unique and surrounded by my favourite people this year.  Not only will it be fun to make fun of me – age jokes never go out of style – we need something to look forward to after the holidays pass and sadly,  to make us feel better about being smack dab in the dead of winter.   Don’t we?

OK.  Time to brainstorm.   I’m open to suggestions…Anyone?

Garold - I think based on my ever-retreating hairline, you’ve given away no secrets that anyone with eyeballs can figure out.

I was going to start an email chain on figuring out ideas for a birthday celebration. Personally, I have no ideas other than to break in the new Fullerton kitchen. Do you have countertops yet?

Dan - No countertops yet 🙁 Hopefully next week.

There is a birthday plan that is secret from Shannen. There will be prizes.

That is all.
