Oh the posts I will post!

Our holidays were insanely busy.  Make that, we were insanely busy relaxing.  We weren’t checking email.  We weren’t online banking.  We weren’t checking voicemails.  We had a wonderful, beautiful holiday in Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia doing nothing but visiting, catching up, and, obviously, driving.

Yup, that’s right.  Every 3 years we have what we call our ‘4 Province Christmas’.  I have to admit, it’s my fave.  We get to spend time with my side of the family before we leave, but then we end up seeing most, if not all, of Dan’s side when we fly out west.  Dan is trying to convince me that we should call this one a 5 Province Christmas because we had a stop-over in Winnipeg, but I don’t think 2 hours in Manitoba counts…Or maybe it does…

I plan to post about some of our favourite holiday moments, but couldn’t resist posting one of my new most favourite pictures of the bean while I gather thoughts and pictures to try to do this special trip justice.

This was taken at about 7:00 am on December 31 – New Year’s Eve and Jaia’s birthday.  Our family tradition (now that she’s old enough to be able to enjoy it) is to wake up the birthday girl (or boy) with a piece of cake with a lit candle in it.   This year we spent Jaia’s birthday in a variety of hotels, so trying to track down cake and a candle at the last minute was tricky.  We settled on a birthday brownie from Grandma.

I love the messy hair and the expression.  I think chocolate cake (or brownies) first thing in the morning is the best way to start any day.  I’d say Jaia agrees.

Danielle - Oh Shan… this is definitely one of the best photos of all time. I haven’t kept up with the blogs I love as of late and seeing this today just made my night. Love it!
