Summer. Ever."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The last few months have seen me busier than I&#8217;ve ever been.\u00a0 Ever.\u00a0 It sounds like an exaggeration &#8211; and we all know I am prone to hyperbole &#8211; but this is the truth.\u00a0 I barely had any time to stop and breathe, let alone try to really enjoy some of the big and not so big moments between April and end of June.\u00a0 I ignored this space, which I really don&#8217;t like to do, but worse, I barely picked up a camera, I felt overwhelmed and I grumbled a lot.\u00a0 A LOT.<\/p>\n<p>But now it&#8217;s July.\u00a0 And most of what bogged my schedule down (including kid sports 6 (!!) days\/week is now down to 4 days\/week) and I&#8217;m feeling like I can get a handle on it.\u00a0 It may even be manageable.\u00a0 Maybe.\u00a0 Some people thrive on keeping busy and I am not one of those people.\u00a0 *See above.<\/p>\n<p>But July (and August) offer far more value to me than a clear(er) schedule.\u00a0 In September, Wesley begins school.\u00a0 Not preschool, which he graduated (literally) in June, but full-time, full-day school.\u00a0 &#8216;Big boy school&#8217; as he calls it.\u00a0 And with that, my life changes forever.\u00a0 No more babies, toddlers, or preschoolers in the house.\u00a0 Only two school age kids who will spend the majority of their time away from me for the first time in their lives.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-7814\" src=\"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/N4-010-0272-685x1024.jpg\" alt=\"N4-010-0272.jpg\" width=\"505\" height=\"755\" srcset=\"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/N4-010-0272-685x1024.jpg 685w, http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/N4-010-0272-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 505px) 100vw, 505px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You think that&#8217;s cute?\u00a0 Check this:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-7815\" src=\"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/N4-010-0266-685x1024.jpg\" alt=\"N4-010-0266.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"766\" srcset=\"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/N4-010-0266-685x1024.jpg 685w, http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/N4-010-0266-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m bracing myself for the change.\u00a0 Wesley will do fine.\u00a0 Quite swimmingly, I&#8217;m betting.\u00a0 And in time, I will be fine too.\u00a0 But right now I feel my heart and my belly clench up at the mere thought of my littlest being old enough to start school. I can&#8217;t believe we are already here.\u00a0 But he is ready (MORE than ready) and excited for school, and so I&#8217;ll happily play along &#8211; for his sake.<\/p>\n<p>So, in advance of this, I have the best. summer. ever planned for the four of us.\u00a0 I&#8217;m calling it &#8217;62 Days of Fun&#8217;.\u00a0 Today is day 4.\u00a0 We will be scratching awesomeness off the summer bucket list every single day and trying our hardest to deeply engrave the happiest memories into our brains so we can always look back with no regrets.\u00a0 This month, and next, we won&#8217;t be bogged down with over scheduled days.\u00a0 We will keep the tv off.\u00a0 We will build sandcastles.\u00a0 We will go to a drive in.\u00a0 We will sleep under the stars.\u00a0 We will roast marshmallows.\u00a0 We will take a road trip and visit a new town.\u00a0 We will swim in a lake and fish from a canoe.\u00a0 We will do it all, but won&#8217;t sweat it if we choose to sit, enjoy and relax instead.\u00a0 It is our summer.\u00a0 The best summer.
