I’ve thrown hints around of some upcoming home renos. \u00a0Details have been sparse, mostly because we haven’t had any of the details ourselves. \u00a0We had the ideas, so many ideas, but the when, the how, the where, were all unknown.<\/p>\n

Until now. \u00a0This weekend I started the first of the two concurrent projects that are sure to swipe ALL of our free time over the next 2-3 weeks. \u00a0But at the end of that, I will be a very, very happy chica.<\/p>\n

Project #1 – The BANNISTERS!<\/p>\n

We have a lot of spindles and bannister in our house. \u00a0Too much? \u00a0Yes, at the moment it looks like an Oak tree came in and barfed on our stairs. \u00a0There is Oak everywhere you look. \u00a0It was worse, though. \u00a0Remember the mirrors?<\/p>\n

Thankfully, those are long gone. \u00a0But the rest of the oak has got to go, too. \u00a0This weekend I sanded and stained \u00a0bannister (one side) and then I have to start painting each and every spindle. \u00a0OMG. \u00a0I’m so looking forward to the end result but the road there is gonna be a long and tiresome one.<\/p>\n

After 3 coats of the stain we bought, I’ve decided it needs to be a little darker. \u00a0So it’s back to the store for me. \u00a0Hopefully one more coat and we’ll be good to go. \u00a0We’re so close I can barely stand it.<\/p>\n

Project #2 – The Tile<\/p>\n

Oh, the tile. \u00a0It is by far the ugliest i’ve ever seen, not to mention how poorly it was installed and then repaired over and over again. And the mosaic. \u00a0Nice touch. \u00a0\ud83d\ude10<\/p>\n

We finally decided on the new tile after having sample after sample lay on the floor for weeks now. \u00a0Here it is (the 12 X 24″):<\/p>\n

If you don’t like it, hush now, because it is already bought and paid for and will arrive this week. \u00a0Dan has a huge job ahead of him, but thankfully, after the renos he did in the last house, he has a lot of experience under his belt. \u00a0PLUS he’s a perfectionist. \u00a0PLUS he’s talented. \u00a0PLUS his dad will be here to help him out. \u00a0All this equals a new, beautiful floor in the next couple of weeks.<\/p>\n

So, there is is. \u00a0Major projects we’ve been talking about, prepping for and dreaming about (me) for as long as we’ve owned this house. \u00a0I’m so excited about these transformations hat I may even hold off complaining about the kitchen\u2026 For the moment, anyway.<\/p>\n
