Project. Ever.<\/p>\n<p>Kids love when things are their very own. \u00a0At least mine do, anyway. \u00a0So it gave me the idea to clean up their very well used stools and give them a new life.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ve probably seen me feature these <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ikea.com\/us\/en\/catalog\/products\/60178887\/\">Ikea Bekvam<\/a> stools before. \u00a0My kids use them as stools for helping in the kitchen or reaching the sink to wash hands, but they&#8217;ve become so much more useful. \u00a0The Bekvam\u00a0has also become a mini table and chair, art desk and snack station.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/DSC_3630.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5722\" title=\"DSC_3630\" src=\"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/DSC_3630.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"531\" height=\"800\" srcset=\"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/DSC_3630.jpg 531w, http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/DSC_3630-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 531px) 100vw, 531px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I decided it was time for a face lift. \u00a0I painted the top and the step in a bright white that I had on hand. \u00a0I could have painted the whole thing, but I actually liked the look with some of the wood showing.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/DSC_6081sm.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5719\" title=\"DSC_6081sm\" src=\"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/DSC_6081sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"725\" height=\"482\" srcset=\"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/DSC_6081sm.jpg 725w, http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/DSC_6081sm-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 725px) 100vw, 725px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then I went digging for some supplies I already had around the house.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mod Pdge<\/li>\n<li>Letter stickers<\/li>\n<li>Paint Brush<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/DSC_6080sm.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5720\" title=\"DSC_6080sm\" src=\"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/DSC_6080sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"725\" height=\"482\" srcset=\"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/DSC_6080sm.jpg 725w, http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/DSC_6080sm-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 725px) 100vw, 725px\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Once the white paint was dry, I applied a thin layer of Mod Podge to the spot where I was going to put the letters. \u00a0Once the letters were placed, I let them dry for a minute of two and then painted another thin layer of the Mod Podge, over the letters and let it dry.\u00a0And for an extra bit of protection, I took the stools outside and sprayed them with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rustoleum.com\/CBGProduct.asp?pid=100\">clear coat<\/a> so that there would be no peeling or chipping.<\/p>\n<p>The finished product:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5721\" title=\"DSC_6082sm\" src=\"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/DSC_6082sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"725\" height=\"482\" srcset=\"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/DSC_6082sm.jpg 725w, http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/DSC_6082sm-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 725px) 100vw, 725px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Added Bonus: \u00a0The kids have 100% stopped fighting over the kitchen stools. \u00a0They each only want to use their own, so no more squabbles over who has which one.<\/p>\n<p>Yes. \u00a0I love when a plan comes together.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Easiest.
