Last week it snowed. \u00a0It was like magic as we pulled into the parking lot of the ski hill where we’d booked a room to stay overnight and get a couple of days of skiing in. During the week. \u00a0Not on the weekend that is often otherwise full of plans and other commitments. \u00a0No, this time we went away, last minute, together, as a family with no real agenda.<\/p>\n

Magic, I tell you.<\/p>\n

What was even more magical to me was watching my almost big girl in her element.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Unlike her mama, a tried and true scaredy cat, Jaia loves trying new things. \u00a0Anything.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This wasn’t her first time skiing. \u00a0It was her third, actually. \u00a0But this was her first with her dad taking over teaching duties from his dad, Grandpa Doug. \u00a0And just like his dad, Dan proved to be a challenging yet calm and patient instructor. \u00a0And Jaia proved to be an eager and hungry student. \u00a0She soaked it up.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

After a few short runs down the bunny hill, Jaia asked to go up on the big hill. \u00a0Dan obliged. \u00a0I cringed at the plan. \u00a0“But what if…?” Dan had more faith. \u00a0They’d take it slow, and they’d be fine.<\/p>\n

They were. \u00a0She was a superstar.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

While Dan and Jaia were off getting their ski on, the dude and I walked around. \u00a0We took pictures. \u00a0We saw the sights. \u00a0We kept busy.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We waved at cats.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We kept our eyes peeled for Daddy and Jaia.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Two days was just enough time away to come back invigorated and ready to take on the last few weeks of snow and cold. \u00a0We are so so so close to saying goodbye to the white stuff for a few months and diving right into it on our little vacay seemed like a appropriate send off. \u00a0It was nice while it lasted, snow. \u00a0Now go away.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
