Parents are rarely cool. \u00a0As much as you set out to be cooler than you parents were, you ended up making rules and set expectations for your kids that make them go “awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww” when you try to enforce them. \u00a0Or maybe that’s just the sound emanating from our house 324 times a day lately.<\/p>\n
So when we come up with an idea to do something that the kids will actually think is cool, we don’t hesitate. \u00a0Our latest project: a climbing wall.<\/p>\n
Yep, that’s right, this weekend, Dan and I painted and built a climbing wall in the basement. \u00a0It was actually pretty easy and when it was done, Jaia took to it like a little monkey – as expected. \u00a0Wes was a little apprehensive, but ended up giving it a go anyway. \u00a0It’ll grow on him. \u00a0Or he’ll grow on it. \u00a0Either way…<\/p>\n
It cost about $95 in total. \u00a0We bought a sheet of plywood (cut into 4 sections to fit in the car) and painted it with spray paint we already had on hand. \u00a0The climbing holds were purchased here<\/a>.<\/p>\n So $95 for hours and hours and hours of fun. \u00a0And maybe a little bit of cool as a bonus. \u00a0Worth every penny.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/DSC_5090sm.jpg\" "\\"DSC_5090sm\\"")
