{"id":530,"date":"2008-03-10T10:21:04","date_gmt":"2008-03-10T14:21:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.forgetful.ca\/2008\/03\/10\/empty-nest\/"},"modified":"2008-03-10T10:21:04","modified_gmt":"2008-03-10T14:21:04","slug":"empty-nest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/?p=530","title":{"rendered":"Empty Nest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The girls are down in Virginia for Liz&#8217;s bachelorette party, so I&#8217;ve been home alone since Wednesday.\u00a0 It&#8217;s very weird.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not the first time I haven&#8217;t seen them for a week, but it&#8217;s very different being the one left at home.\u00a0 There are reminders of them everywhere &#8211; very different than an austere hotel room and 12 hr days at a factory.\u00a0 The house seems so empty!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I can&#8217;t wait for their return tonight.\u00a0 There may be one or two kisses involved.<\/p>\n<p>Big news from the weekend they missed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>51 cms of snow!\u00a0 They took both cameras, otherwise I would have posted a photo of our backyard, full to the top of the fence in some places with snow.\u00a0 Humph could have hopped over to the neighbor&#8217;s yard.\u00a0 We&#8217;re now a foot short of the all-time record for snowfall.\u00a0 And snow is forecast for Wednesday.<\/li>\n<li>Speaking of Humph, he had a rawhide bone in the back yard last weekend when we were building the snowman.\u00a0 I let him out yesterday, and within 10 minutes he had dug the bone up, from under 5 feet of snow!\u00a0 It&#8217;s amazing that he could find it by smell.<\/li>\n<li>Our street was impassable even after the plow came by.\u00a0 It moved a lot of the snow, but there was still a foot of snow left, too much for our little car without winter tires.\u00a0 There&#8217;s been enough traffic that it&#8217;s OK today.<\/li>\n<li>Our neighbor rocks &#8211; he snow-blowed (blew?) our driveway yesterday!\u00a0 Twice, in fact.\u00a0 He came back after the plow came by to remove the furrow of snow.\u00a0 I did my part though &#8211; before he came I shoveled a car-width down the driveway.\u00a0 A good 1 hr workout.<\/li>\n<li>After 2.5 years of owning an xbox, I finally finished a game!\u00a0 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.1up.com\/do\/reviewPage?cId=3164453&#038;p=4&#038;sec=REVIEWS\">Mass Effect<\/a>, a space opera from the makers of Baldur&#8217;s Gate and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.\u00a0 Excellent rental.\u00a0 <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.1up.com\/do\/reviewPage?cId=3164175&#038;p=4&#038;sec=REVIEWS\">Call of Duty 4<\/a>?\u00a0 Not so much.<\/li>\n<li>I eat way better when the girls are around.\u00a0 Solo, I revert to one meal a day, which is most often a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.forgetful.ca\/2006\/12\/14\/oafe-award-ode-to-shawarma\/\">shawarma<\/a> \ud83d\ude42<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The girls are down in Virginia for Liz&#8217;s bachelorette party, so I&#8217;ve been home alone since Wednesday.\u00a0 It&#8217;s very weird.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not the first time I haven&#8217;t seen them for a week, but it&#8217;s very different being the one left at home.\u00a0 There are reminders of them everywhere &#8211; very different than an austere hotel [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"ngg_post_thumbnail":0},"categories":[28],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/530"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=530"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/530\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=530"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=530"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=530"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
