{"id":524,"date":"2008-01-29T14:17:35","date_gmt":"2008-01-29T19:17:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.forgetful.ca\/2008\/01\/29\/wheres-jaia\/"},"modified":"2008-01-29T14:17:35","modified_gmt":"2008-01-29T19:17:35","slug":"photos-of-themonth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/?p=524","title":{"rendered":"Photos of the&#8230;.month?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So, you may noticed that pictures of Jaia have been markedly absent for the past few weeks.\u00a0 After a year of posting a photo everyday (no, I didn&#8217;t come close, but I tried) I took the eqivalent of vacation from it.\u00a0 By no means does this mean that I stopped taking them.\u00a0 In fact, I think I&#8217;ve taken more pictures\u00a0in the last few weeks than I did during all of November and December.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"imagelink\" title=\"dsc_1688sm.jpg\" href=\"http:\/\/www.forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/01\/dsc_1688sm.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"image1568\" alt=\"dsc_1688sm.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/01\/dsc_1688sm.jpg\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>January has been amazing, Jaia-wise.\u00a0 It&#8217;s like she&#8217;s become a totally different kid.\u00a0 Though she took her first steps at 11-months old, she used them very sparingly throughout the month of December.\u00a0 We could sometimes coax her to take a few steps on command (usually with promises of food), but for the most part, she was happy to crawl to where she needed to go.\u00a0 It was much more efficient, and brought fewer opportunities to fall.<\/p>\n<p>And then when she turned 1, like a switch flipped, she started using the newly acquired skill, and not just in front of Dan and I (my sister started thinking that Jaia walking was a lot like the Polkaroo&#8230;).\u00a0 She\u00a0started being brave and would\u00a0walk for a few more seconds each time, fall forward and rather than revert back to crawling, would\u00a0stand herself back up and begin again.\u00a0 It was pretty amazing to watch.\u00a0 With each step her muscles seemed to strengthen and\u00a0her walking\u00a0would be a little less&#8230;wobbly.\u00a0 And then, within a week or two she was fully walking.\u00a0 And she continues to shock me.\u00a0 We went to the mall yesterday to meet\u00a0a friend\u00a0and I shouldn&#8217;t have bothered bringing her stroller.\u00a0 She just wanted to walk the entire time and by the end of the visit she was practically running &#8211;
