Another milestone reached. \u00a0She’s officially a real kid. \u00a0Inducted into the exclusive club. \u00a0Lifetime membership, with one small price.<\/p>\n

Saturday night while racing around with Dan and Wes, Jaia fell and hit her forehead on the fireplace hearth. \u00a0The cut was deep required stitches. \u00a0Off she and Dan went to the hospital, leaving the worried mama at home with the boy.<\/p>\n

We’ve been to the hospital with Jaia only one other time<\/a>, many moons ago. \u00a0 That was much scarier. \u00a0But, as a parent, bringing your child to the hospital for any reason stirs up anxiety, even if you didn’t now it was there.<\/p>\n

Dan tells me Jaia was a trooper. \u00a0She was laughing, making friends and genuinely enjoying everything about her time out alone with her dad, minus the bleeding gash in her forehead.<\/p>\n

I think it helped that stitches have changed in the last 82 years when I had mine. \u00a0I cut my chin open on a car bumper while playing hide an seek. \u00a0There was no doubt I needed stitches, but instead of a topical cream to freeze the area like Jaia had, I got a needle. \u00a0And instead of pretty and almost painless (purple) glue, the doctor sewed my cut together with a needle and black <\/strong>thread. \u00a0Pretty.<\/p>\n

So now she has a battle scar. \u00a0A story to tell all her friends. \u00a0Something she’ll carry with her always. \u00a0Something else that is all her own. \u00a0And so far, she’s proud. \u00a0I hope she stays that way.<\/p>\n
