<\/a>This\u00a0trip marked the 15th year that our family has been going to Virginia Beach and it ranked up there with some of the best vacations we’ve spent there.\u00a0 The obvious addition was Jaia and her sheer joy at being in the ocean, the pool and in the warm beach air for the first time.\u00a0 It was priceless.\u00a0<\/p>\nSome of the highlights include:<\/p>\n
For Me:\u00a0A trip to the Virginia Beach Aquarium.\u00a0 We’ve driven by hundreds of times, but never ended up with enough time to go in and check it out.\u00a0 This year we took advantage of an extra evening sans plans and did the tour.\u00a0\u00a0It offered everything an aquarium should and some things I didn’t ever want to know were under me as I swim in open water.\u00a0 The coolest part was, predictably, the shark tank.\u00a0 Scared the begeezus out of me.\u00a0 But awesome.<\/p>\n
For Dan:\u00a0 The Old Bay shrimp served at our local Tiki Bar.\u00a0 He claims that it was just as tasty as he remembered.\u00a0 I’ll take his word for it.<\/p>\n For me:\u00a0 Discovering that there were actually two pools on the property, not one as I thought there was.\u00a0 And the surprise pool happened to be mere feet from our room.\u00a0 I took advantage.\u00a0 I love pools.\u00a0 Dan, can we get a pool?<\/p>\n For Dan:\u00a0 Dan likes to find and try local beers when we are away.\u00a0 Sometimes it’s not possible, so he’ll go with the next best thing…something weird.\u00a0 This time he chose a beer called Magic Hat which is brewed in Vermont.\u00a0 They sold it in a variety pack that included a mystery beer.\u00a0 Literally.\u00a0 The label said ‘Mystery Beer’ and there was no explanation for what kind it really was.\u00a0 Apparently they choose a new mystery selection every season.\u00a0 Weird.<\/p>\n Speaking of weird……….<\/p>\n Anyway…<\/p>\n For me:\u00a0 The fox.\u00a0 My parents went walking one evening and ran into a fox.\u00a0 They came home and told us all about it.\u00a0 They said others on the beach had seen it and it was not scared of people at all and would come quite close.\u00a0 We walked the length of the beach on our last night there and saw nothing.\u00a0 I started to think that their ‘fox’ was actually the Polkaroo.\u00a0 But then, just as we were about to climb the dune and head back to the condo,\u00a0there he was.\u00a0 I completely expected him to run as soon as he saw us, but he proceeded to prance within a few feet of us and keep on going.\u00a0 It was getting dark and this is the best photo I could get of him while he was on the move….<\/p>\n For Dan:\u00a0 Being served by Adam Duritz of the Counting Crows at a beachfront restaurant.\u00a0<\/p>\n For all of us:\u00a0\u00a0Awesome food and amazing company.\u00a0 Plans for\u00a0year 16 are already in the works.\u00a0 Until then…<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n
