\"fall-pics-2006-36sm.jpg\"<\/a>The weekend was beautiful.\u00a0 It seriously couldn’t have been better for a long weekend in October.\u00a0 And to celebrate, Dan and I filled it with just the right amount of busy and relax.\u00a0 It involved 3 sleep-ins (7 o’clock is a sleep-in for us and I actually made it to 8 o’clock on Sunday), 2 family visits, 1 new house visit, 1 painted room and 1 set-up of a now fully decked out crib.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dan’s aunt, uncle and cousins came by on Saturday, with their pooch, to play for a few hours on Saturday afternoon.\u00a0 We took advantage of the sunshine to go walking at a nearby trail with the\u00a0dogs in tow, or should I say, us in tow.\u00a0 They went berzerk in the woods…which also meant Humphrey spent the rest of Saturday in dreamland.\u00a0 Excellent.\u00a0 The walk was perfect.\u00a0 We stopped to take a few pictures, do lots of chatting and catching up and then headed back home.\u00a0 It was lovely to get to spend so much time outside in October and not be forced to bundle up yet.<\/p>\n

Saturday evening consisted of a visit to the Woodingtons new house (so beautiful – I don’t think I could even narrow down my favourite part), more picture-taking and dinner at a Westboro Thai restaurant (delish).\u00a0 If I could remember the name, I’d tell you.\u00a0 I can’t.\u00a0 Siam something?\u00a0 One of those places that looks crap-tastic on the outside, but stunning on the inside.\u00a0 A hidden gem.<\/p>\n

Sunday was all about food.\u00a0 My dad and brother joined Dan and I for the feast<\/a>\u00a0described in the last post.\u00a0 We spent most of the day preparing, sneaking bites of, and enjoying the endless deliciousness.\u00a0 The only addition was this sweet and sour crunchy cabbage salad that one of his aunts is famous for.\u00a0 It was easily my third favourite dish at the table.\u00a0 Or fourth.\u00a0 Quite frankly, the only disaster was the gravy, but if you closed your eyes hard enough, you’d never know how repulsive it looked.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\"fall-pics-2006-40sm.jpg\"<\/a>Monday was sans visit, very quiet and very productive.\u00a0 After a long walk and photo-taking session down a previously undiscovered local trail (well, undiscovered by us, apparently everyone else and their brother knew about it…much to Humphrey’s chagrin) we used the rest of the afternoon to finish painting the baby’s room (me), set up the crib (Dan), test out the cutest baby bed linens ever in the crib (me – I couldn’t resist), play video games (Dan), and watch Shopgirl (not bad at all).<\/p>\n

I love long weekends.\u00a0 We should definitely have them more often.<\/p>\n
