But for some reason, we don’t see very many in the theatre. Since we’ve been together (going on 4 years), we estimate that we’ve seen less than 10 on the big screen. We’re pathetic. But at least we admit it.

So…last Sunday, while waiting to catch our 2 am flight from Saskatoon, we decided we’d kill some time by going to the theatre to catch a flick. Perfect. It had been ages (obviously), and there wasn’t much else going on after 9 pm in the city. We pulled up and decided that we’d choose from the 5 or 6 that were playing, even though we didn’t recognize many of the titles. After finding that most were ‘John Tucker Must Die’-esque, we decided that we’d go with the one choice that neither of us remembered hearing about before: The Descent.

It started out looking a little low-budget, but it turns out that low budget can SCARE THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF YOU! I admit to being a bit of a wuss in my oldish age, but I actually spent sections of this movie watching from between my fingers and whispering to Dan that we should just leave and find out about the ending later. Check out the trailer …

It was by no means the best movie I’ve ever seen. As with all thrillers and horror flicks, there were some things about this one that didn’t quite work. But it did exactly as it was supposed to, to the point that I was even a bit chicken to head into the washroom alone after the movie was over. It played on all your primal fears and made me realize that I am much less adventurous than I thought was. Not that exploring unexplored caves was ever an option for me…I mean, imagine the bugs that live down there?

Dan and I adore movies.
