I had grand plans to post this yesterday. \u00a0And then I fell asleep. \u00a0I’m exhausted. \u00a0My 5 month old is still nowhere near sleeping through the night. \u00a0At this point I’d settle for 4 or 5 hours in a row, but I’m lucky if I get 2.<\/p>\n

But seriously, that’s the only complaint I have. \u00a0My boy is awesome. \u00a0He’s happy. \u00a0So very happy. \u00a0He smiles and laughs much of the day (and night – hence the paragraph above), a stark contrast to what he did for the first three months of his life. \u00a0So we are soaking it in and loving every single smile. \u00a0And his laugh, well, it knocks the wind out of me.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

He’s been rolling over and hard to contain for over a month now. \u00a0Since then he’s been plotting his escape by inching his way from point A to point B. \u00a0Not crawling yet, but he’s hellbent on figuring it out. \u00a0He’s been working on a lot, actually…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

My sweet Wes is 5 months old today. \u00a0Contrary to the ‘how to’ books, I rocked my boy to sleep this afternoon. \u00a0He goes down easily into his crib for naps, but I chose to rock him. \u00a0His sister was off at school and the house was quiet. \u00a0He fell asleep in my arms and while I could have (should have) put him down and gotten busy crossing some things off my to-do list, I didn’t. \u00a0I sat there and watched him sleep. \u00a0I memorized his tiny nose and his eyelashes that go on for miles. \u00a0I listened to the rhythm of his breathing and snuggled him close.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

By next month he’ll be bigger. \u00a0He’ll be sitting up and maybe crawling. \u00a0He’ll be eating solids. \u00a0He’ll be half a year old and he just won’t be so little anymore. \u00a0As I complained this morning, a very good friend reminded me not to wish this away. \u00a0I may want to sleep more – and that will come – but I will never get to enjoy these sweet moments the same way ever again.<\/p>\n
