Today is a special day. \u00a0I mostly think people are crazy when they talk about half-birthdays, except when it comes to those people born in late December\/early January who were seriously ripped off in the birthday department. \u00a0Myself included. \u00a0And closest to my heart in that elite group of people, is Jaia. \u00a0And today she turns 3.5.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A half-birthday does not bring all the fanfare of a regular birthday: no parties, no presents, no balloons, no cards or songs. \u00a0But it does make a little girl feel extra special and that’s worth it to this mama.<\/p>\n

And it also means CAKE!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

At 3.5, Jaia is way more imaginative and playful than she was 6 months ago. \u00a0Amazingly so. \u00a0And she’s also more independent. \u00a0She has not only gained a baby brother since her last birthday, she’s also gained confidence. \u00a0And she’s become fearless. \u00a0And daring. And strong. \u00a0And funny. \u00a0Yet she’s still as sweet and sensitive as always. \u00a0I’m constantly amazed by her and so proud of the little lady she’s becoming.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In just a couple of months my 3.5 year old will start kindergarten and our lives will change in a major way for the second time in 2010. \u00a0And no matter how hard that one is for me to swallow, I’m pretty sure Jaia is going to rock it and make it look easy – just like she did with the whole ‘big sister’ thing.<\/p>\n
