Jaia is getting more and more and more independent everyday. \u00a0I can’t deny that some days, especially in my current whale-like state I find this extremely helpful, but other days it makes me sad to know that she really is growing up at the speed of light. \u00a0My little bug, who a few months ago wouldn’t even enter a room where there were other people, \u00a0is now able to put on her own shoes, go to the bathroom by herself, get herself a glass of water (with the help of our trusty Ikea step stool) write her own name without help and buckle herself into her car seat.<\/p>\n

One of her funniest new habits is wanting to style her own hair. \u00a0She brushes it and puts a barette in the front to keep her bangs out of her face but then she takes a clip and givers herself a sort of side ponytail, leaving the other half of her hair loose. \u00a0And Heaven forbid if she ever loses her clip or leaves it somewhere….<\/p>\n

She loves how it looks. \u00a0She’ll sneak peeks of herself in the mirror and proudly show it off to anyone she meets.<\/p>\n

I have to admit that I’m not a huge fan of the style, but figure, like anything else, it’s a phase she’s going through. \u00a0So I don’t say anything. \u00a0And I snap pictures of it to show her some day. \u00a0I figure that \u00a0by the time she’s in high school, she’ll have moved on to something else. \u00a0Imagine what my mother thought as she watched me empty half a can of hair spray on my teased bangs every day in grade 7…<\/p>\n
