{"id":1709,"date":"2009-07-11T08:12:48","date_gmt":"2009-07-11T12:12:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.forgetful.ca\/?p=1709"},"modified":"2009-07-11T08:12:48","modified_gmt":"2009-07-11T12:12:48","slug":"lions-and-tigers-and-bears-oh-my","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/forgetful.ca\/?p=1709","title":{"rendered":"Lions and tigers and bears, Oh my!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1715\" title=\"DSC_5815\" src=\"http:\/\/www.forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/DSC_5815-680x1024.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_5815\" width=\"680\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Though if Jaia were to be saying it it would be &#8216;Pandas and tigers and zebras, Oh my!&#8217; \u00a0Those are her latest faves. \u00a0And today she saw all three. \u00a0She and I are in Virginia, visiting my mom for her birthday, and today we all went to the <a href=\"http:\/\/nationalzoo.si.edu\/\">National Zoo in Washington, DC.<\/a> We dressed her up in her giraffe dress and drove into the city and a &#8216;not so hot day&#8217; according to my parents. \u00a0At 85 degrees Fahrenheit (or 29+ degrees Celcius) and the humidity at about a million percent, I&#8217;d beg to differ. \u00a0But honestly, after the craptastic weather we&#8217;ve been having in Ottawa, this was actually a nice change.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been to this zoo once before, almost a decade ago &#8211; when the Giant Pandas had just arrived from China. \u00a0Now the zoo is all Panda, all the time. \u00a0And rightly so, they are GORGEOUS. \u00a0And adorable.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1710\" title=\"DSC_5836\" src=\"http:\/\/www.forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/DSC_5836-680x1024.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_5836\" width=\"680\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Jaia was smitten and wanted to see him from every angle. \u00a0We obliged.<\/p>\n<p>She was also super impressed with the gorillas. \u00a0There were quite a few to watch, but seeing the big male stand up and beat on his chest and the mama with the teeny baby were the highlights.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1711\" title=\"DSC_5738\" src=\"http:\/\/www.forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/DSC_5738-680x1024.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_5738\" width=\"680\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Jaia had an amazing time. \u00a0We all did. \u00a0And just watching her face light up up as we went from area to area was enough for me. \u00a0But really, anyone would have enjoyed themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Zoos are awesome. \u00a0And so are Red Pandas.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1724\" title=\"DSC_5755\" src=\"http:\/\/www.forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/DSC_5755-680x1024.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_5755\" width=\"680\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And Papoos are awesome too. \u00a0Just ask Jaia.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-1725\" title=\"DSC_5875\" src=\"http:\/\/www.forgetful.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/DSC_5875-680x1024.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_5875\" width=\"680\" height=\"1024\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Though if Jaia were to be saying it it would be &#8216;Pandas and tigers and zebras, Oh my!&#8217; \u00a0Those are her latest faves. \u00a0And today she saw all three. \u00a0She and I are in Virginia, visiting my mom for her birthday, and today we all went to the National Zoo in Washington, DC.
