Th other day I posted a picture<\/a> of the necklace I had made at Sassy Bead Company.\u00a0 I love, love, love love it.\u00a0 But not just because it’s pretty, because it means so much to me.<\/p>\n

When Jaia was little, she would throw her little arms and arms and legs out when we’d put her down on the change table, crib, whatever (it’s a newborn reflex that all babies have).\u00a0 Her flared pose would always remind me of a starfish and it led me to begin calling her that, a wonderful addition to the plethora of nicknames she already had by that point.\u00a0 But Starfish stuck.\u00a0 It was our little thing.<\/p>\n

And I bought myself a necklace to commemorate that time.\u00a0 A little reminder for me of the tiny newborn Jaia for when she wasn’t so tiny anymore.\u00a0 And then I lost it.\u00a0 It somehow came undone and slipped off my neck without me even noticing.\u00a0 I was devastated.\u00a0 I looked around for a replacement for a long time with no luck.<\/p>\n

And then Dan, Super Dan, bought me the starfish pendant for Christmas and now I have my necklace back, just new and improved.<\/p>\n

But while I was looking around for an appropriately sweet starfish design to replace the lost one, I came upon so many brilliant designers.\u00a0 My favourite, by far, was Lisa Leonard of Lisa Leonard Designs<\/a>.\u00a0 After browsing her site, it became clear to me that I’m really fond of jewelry that is more than just pretty.\u00a0 Jewelry that means something and that holds such significance that whenever you see it\u00a0or wear it, it brings back wonderful memories…like the starfish does for me.<\/p>\n

My faves of Ms. Leonard’s designs are the Petite original Circle under ‘Something Simple’, the Tiny Squares under ‘Something Inspired’, and the Stackable Rings under ‘Something Extra’.\u00a0 There’s just something so sweet and simple about her line.\u00a0 What a perfect gift for a wife (hint, hint, Dan), a mother, a sister or a friend.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
