I’ve been meaning to post this for some time now, but I was too afraid to jinx it.\u00a0 Jaia is officially potty trained.\u00a0 She uses the toilet 100% of the time and I am 100% THRILLED!<\/p>\n
A confession:<\/p>\n
The early days of potty training make you wish you could go back to the easy days of diaper changes.\u00a0 I found myself following her around asking her constantly if she needed to go to the potty, worrying that we’d have an accident while were out, though that rarely happened.\u00a0 But in true Fullerton fashion, When we have an accident, we go all out.\u00a0 Pardon the pun.<\/p>\n
The story goes like this: We had spent an absolutely lovely day downtown Ottawa in November.\u00a0 We were Christmas shopping and decided to stop for lunch at the Brig, a pub located steps from where we had originally parked.\u00a0 As soon as we sat down Jaia asked to go to the potty.\u00a0 We trudged down the most wonky, narrowest stairs I may have ever descended.\u00a0 We squeezed into the TINY stall got her\u00a0ready, plopped her on the toilet and…nothing.\u00a0 False alarm.\u00a0 “All done now!”, she claimed.\u00a0 So we got her ready, washed hands, headed up the stairs.<\/p>\n
2 minutes later, she asked to go potty again.\u00a0 Repeat the above X3 and still no toilet action.\u00a0 So the next time she asked, we kind of ignored…or hesitated.\u00a0 And then I saw the face.\u00a0 You know the face… and I picked her up and raced down those stairs two at a time.\u00a0 Too late.\u00a0 Without an extra set of clothes (my fatal mistake), I had no choice but to clean her up and carry her, bottomless, through the restaurant to our table where I could put her into her snow suit.\u00a0 Sans pants.\u00a0 Ew.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude10<\/p>\n
Now we were eager to get her home (obviously) so we quickly paid our bill and headed toward the car.\u00a0 As soon as we got there, she made the face again.\u00a0 Now we had nothing to change her into.\u00a0 Dan did what any super dad would do and quickly removed his t-shirt to wrap around her.\u00a0 Problem was, her snowsuit was a one piece and was now soiled, and we needed something to keep her warm in the cold car, so Dan wrapped his jacket around her.\u00a0 Perfect.<\/p>\n
Picture this.\u00a0 Baby: snug in car seat wearing a t-shirt as pants, wrapped in a man’s coat.\u00a0 Man: standing in the parking garage shirtless.\u00a0 Mama: laughing hysterically.<\/p>\n
Moral of the story.\u00a0 Always bring extra clothes.\u00a0 You never know when or who will need them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
